If he was weak competition he wouldn't have given Mayweather hell in the first fight.

that proves Mayweather is not great like people think he is. not that Maidana is amazing. Same thing with ordinary Castillo

Nonsense. Being great doesn't mean being immune to your opponent's strategy and punches, that's ***** ****. All great fighters lost, struggled and had horrible experiences. Isn't Ali leagues ahead of Frazier in terms of natural ability and skill?, yet he still has competitive tough fights against Frazier's all-aggressive style. Styles make fights, try to learn that.

Mayweather has not fought one fighter remotely as good as the ones that troubled the greats

    Benitez Duran
    Frazier/Norton Ali
    Young Foreman

    Castillo/Maidana Floyd

clearly that last one doesnt belong

It's not Mayweather's problem Benitez and Duran quality opponents didn't exist in his time. Also, you seem to ignore that Mayweather was 37 when he fought Maidana.

Yea, but Mayweather chooses his opponents wisely to avoid being put into situations where opponents have a greta chance at upsetting him.

Thus the question is really, which way do we go, is Maidana a C level slugger or someone with potential to be a great? He did give Mayweather a heck of a fight. Either way there is no win for Mayweather imo, it is what it is.

And as some have mentioned, has Floyd fought someone of his peer level yet? Ever? Maidana gave him hell and Maidana is no where near atg on anyone's playbook.

You don't need to be an A class level slugger to trouble an A class boxer. It's well-known already that a consistent one-dimensional slugger will always trouble a slick special fighter depending on his consistent aggression. Add to that, Mayweather's age which plays a major role as well. Was Joe Frazier in Ali's class boxing-wise?, was LaMotta in Robinson's class boxing-wise?...etc

As far as Mayweather avoiding opposition, I can't deny that he did and continues to carefully pick opponents based on their styles. Still though, Maidana isn't a joke opponent as he already proved. It's enough already that he's the first to bust Mayweather open and trouble him the way he did, what more can anyone ask for?

    Haha

    "ordinary Castillo"

You do realize he is viewed as the best Lightweight of the whole 2000-2009 decade, right?

    Wins:
    Adrien Broner
    Victor Ortiz
    Jesus Soto Karass
    Petr Petrov
    Josesito Lopez
    Erik Morales
    DeMarcus Corley

    Losses:
    Floyd Mayweather
    Amir Khan
    Devon Alexander
    Andrey Kotelnik

It doesn't matter if Roger thinks he hasn't fought anyone. He has. He was the #5 or 6 WW heading into their clash a couple months ago and now he has temporarily cemented his place in those rankings until he next enters the ring.

You've been watching boxing for 9 years and you thought Maidana won more than 4 rounds?!?! What a joke you have admitted to be...
