If you stand them up quicker, the guy on bottom will just hold on and stall though.

It is about evolution. I have stated I don't like the directin MMA is heading, so I refuse to pay for these cards from now on.

The thing about the scoring is how significant the takedown is vs. everything else.

When I watch a fight, I'm looking at where the fight takes place, and who dictates where it takes place to start.

Then, I look at who is inflicting damage from where. If you can control a fight, take it where you want it to be, and then inflict damage, then you are the ****, you are dominating.

If you can dictate where the fight takes place, say you are shooting for takedowns and you cant inflict damage, well then I will consider how long you are able to control that position, but if you inflict no damage then this isn't worth anything significant to me, because this is a fight, not a karate match.

So, when guy from the mount is able to escape from his back, and wind up back to his feet, especially if he is able to escape with something like a sub attempt and transition to the feet, that is worth the same amount as the average takedown to me, so they negate one another.

What remains in the wrestlers favor is the time dominated, and the damage inflicted on the ground..

Now, if the wrestler got a slam, I consider that damage. If there are close sub attempts, and guys are nearly getting choked out, or narrowly escape something like a kimura where they likely took damage, then that is also worth something similar to a slam in my book.

From here, you just weigh out the time, and who inflicted more damage..

So round 2 and 3. I saw Nog inflicting more damage from the standup, and controlling the standup for a significant time. He inflicted more damage, than Bader did when he had Nog on the ground (Bader really did nothing when he had Nog on the ground outside of round 1).

So, it ends up being that Nog dominate both of those rounds. He kept the fight standing, he stuffed takedowns, which meant he dictated where the fight took place. But more importantly, Advantage Nog.

Nog inflicted more damage at the standup than Bader did, again Advantage Nog.

The fight was spent standing, longer than it was on the ground, again Advantage Nog..

When I look at round 1. I saw Bader clearly inflict the most damage. In this case. In the case of very violent bursts that have a fighter in trouble, this is worth a shitload. A fighter is potentially on the brink of ending the fight, this is what fighting is all about, and this is what is to be encouraged..

So, lets say Nog was clearly winning round one, getting the better of the standup in a significant way, but never had Bader in trouble. Then Bader finishes the last 30 seconds with a takedown and lands consecutive shots to Nogs face, and appears to have him in some deep ****. Nog is clearly looking to defend and survive/neutralize Bader's offense, then this is worth more than what Nog did that round..

The point is to encourage a fight. Not encourage point scoring.

I almost feel like there should be multiple types of fight rules in the UFC.

Why not have a 3 round fight with no judges? If the fight lasts 3 rounds, its a default draw. However if you win via submission or knockout, you a truly significant (finish him bonus).

As it is now, not enough fighters are fighting to finish their opponents. They are fighting to win on the cards. Takedowns, regardless of what fighters do with them, have been what has been winning fights for too many fighters.

We don't have Matt Hughes type wrestlers with killer instincts, who go in to kick the **** out of their opponents anymore. We have guys who just want to go in, get the takedown, avoid going for the submission because they put themselves in position to lose *dominant* position via sweep.. They look to **** around and *improve* position to half guard, and land a couple punches here and there to win a round.

I've seen Jake Shields take full mount and pepper a guys face for two minutes.. What almost made me throw up was, he wasn't trying to knock his opponent out with those shots.. He was there to win on points..

To me, Bloodstain Lane makes the point. This isn't supposed to be Karate, or Wrestling. This is supposed to be fighting.

I appreciate Karate, Wrestling, Judo, Muay Thai, Boxing, All the combat sports. But, this isn't the evolution I want to see. MMA is going more in the direction of a technical point system, rather than a sport where two guys are in the ring trying to finish one another. I'm not going to spend my money on that.

You want to have rules that award the fighters for fighting. I don't like the idea if punishing them with pay cuts through yellow cards, unless they are making **** tons.
