I'm talking about 175, the weight he naturally grew into & settled at.. DM was Jones' divisional dance partner for about 5 years (#1 & 2) via ring mag (similar somewhat to Calzaghe & Kessler..) & this would have greatly enhanced his LHW resume had he fought & beat him. It's a no brainer..

Dariusz would have beat Tarver.. the light hitting Eric Harding who had 7 KOs in 28 fights made him take a knee & Reggie Johnson also dropped him too..

Tarver beating Jones was probably more to do with Jones' fading abilities rather than Tarvers ability as a fighter.

 

It would have been a great fight and it's a shame that we didn't see it. But I honestly don't think it would have been the equivilant of Tyson beating Wlad.

Regarding Dariusz-Tarver, it's something to ponder.

It would have been an intriguing clash of styles.

We can't just assume Dariusz would have won based upon Tarver's results against Harding and Reggie. They were 2 skilled southpaws who fought completely different to what Dariusz did. If we wanted to, we could put forward a case for Tarver winning, based upon the trouble that Richard Hall caused Dariusz across 2 fights. So it works both ways. But even if Dariusz could have beaten Tarver, Tarver would always have been a more difficult fight for Roy.

Roy's win over Tarver was great, as Tarver was a tough stylistic match up, and he'd had to burn muscle just to make weight, at almost 35 years of age after having had 50 fights, across 4 divisions.

Dariusz was tough with a good jab. But he was very hittable, slow in comparison to Roy, and he always marked up due to having lots of scar tissue. He also got stripped for not relinquishing his lightly regarded WBO belt, which made up most of his unbeaten record.

I think that his wins over Tarver and Toney would have been better than a win over Dariusz. But yes, it would have been up there as one of his best. But I concentrate on the clash of styles and the ability of the fighters, more than what I do with statistics and media hype.

 

Unlike wilder he beat like 20 top 10 contenders 11 and more champions ok he beat ATGS spinks and holmes one in prime one out of prime wilder doesn’t have that Lewis caught him at right time And even greats like foreman and frazier have just 1 good win foreman is 6-4 vs top 10 contenders but nobody talk WILDER FOUGHT 2 TOP 20 CONTENDERS THATS ****ING TERRIBLE

Fury needs to beat Whyte, Usyk and AJ to really round out his ATG status

Fury's current resume is garbage and people should be ashamed to consider him an all-time great.
