Former WBO world title challenger Al Seeger (27-3, 21 KOs) is the new opponent for Cuban Olympic gold medalist Yuriorkis Gamboa (10-8, 8 KOs) on Friday night at Buffalo Bill's Resort & Casino in Primm, Nevada. "I realize what I'm getting into," said Seeger from the airport en route to Primm. "I'm in shape and I'm going to take the opportunity." The bout will be televised on ESPN2. Right now I will check Seegers's record. Gamboa seem to have have a lot of problems with guys pulling out:huh :think :-(
a 10-0 prospect against a 27-3 former title challanger. anyone else and i would be panaking but we all know gamboa will do the business. i cant remember the last time a prospect was brought along so quick, his team have some serious confindence in him (and rightly so, gambo rules!!!!)
Isn't this the second time Rojas has punked out? I remember Rojas being scheduled to face Gamboa in May...but then Ramirez stepped in then dropped out before they settled on Darling Jiminez.
Rojas is a better test than Seeger is, dissappointed that he pulled out, but whatever I just want Gamboa to continue to be active.
I was just about to maked a thread discussing the Rojas fight when I seen this. I felt that is one hell of a hard fight and if he came through that with flying colours i'd be even more impressed. Rojas is a good fighter. Pity.
One more time!!!!! Gamboa is good. But you guys have to stop thinking about him as a young prospect with 10 fights. Gamboa has more boxing rounds than many professionals with 20 fights. This guy is at his peak.
This aint a bad fight at all for Gamboa hes getting some decent test which I like. This Seeger fella beat Erik Aiken who was a world champion he also just gave Mike Oliver a promising prospect a damn close fight and of course hes challenged PDL for a world title recently. I liked them matching him with Jimenz and I like this to. Assuming he wins this id try and have him go his next 3 bouts Hector Valsquez,Mzonke Fana,Monte Meza Clay then move him up to the Barrios,Juarez type very dangerous trinket title worthy fighters just a step below the true elites. After them he should be prepared for title shots.
FWIW, Eric Aiken might be the worst titleholder in the history of the sport. That's probably worth its own thread though.
We are high on him because of how impressive he looks. He is dominating these B and C level fighters as easily and impressively as an elite fighter would.
