Boxing and MMA isn't "Who's the best fighter at this weight" It's "Who's the best at cutting weight?"
Sometimes, I think if boxing went back to the original THREE divisions ... Lightweight, Middleweight, Heavyweight (big, medium, small) ... we'd be fine. Raise Middle up a couple pounds to the average weight of a normal man these days (since I doubt it's still 160 like it was a 100+ years ago), and it would be fine. Everyone is big, medium or small. This guy walks around at 180 and he's fighting for a lightweight belt? He could never actually fight someone weighing that light, He'll be 155/160 a day after the fight. So what's the point? Big guys, medium guys, small guys. You want to fight, pick a big guy, a medium guy, or a small guy. Enough of the phony "drying out" and guys claiming to be five-division champs when all that means is they managed to lose five more pounds the day before the fight for one fight than they did for another. They basically weigh the same for nearly all their fights when they actually get in the ring anyway. Let's just quit the nonsense. If they aren't going to weigh in right before the fight (like just before the card begins), what's the point? If the TV network is going to take a scale into the dressing room while the fighters are warming up and tell us what they ACTUALLY weigh right before the fight, and how OVER the limit they are, what's the point? Heavyweight. Middleweight. Lightweight. Easy.
Same day weigh-ins are an absolute necessity. There would be much better action if guys came in at whatever their best weight is and didn't have a chance to cut and rehydrate beyond a pound or two. Careers would probably last longer and better health in retirement too.
The original 5 would be best in my opinion. Also walking around weight shouldn't be more than 10% of your weigh in weight... That keeps the fighters healthier and it is a more honest representation of the weight class.
181,6? I guess more close to LHW ( 175 lbs division ) with minor weight cut or at least after pre fight camp. I had watched his 2 pro fights. He does not have anything to offer for now 44? y.o Floyd Jr, he will get KOed vs uncle Floyd Jr. Very powerful, durable and most likely with good gas tank strong lad. Wilder if compare with him is real boxing science professor. If he had not improved after his last pro fight: I think it was worst ever US boxing prospect I had saw.
Looks that GGG was 170? vs 182 lbs Jacobs. Btw Pirog really had looked puny if compare vs Jacobs in the ring.
