If I ran into Miranda in a dark alley I would run for my life.

Not only does María "La Pantera" Miranda (17-22) have 6x as much pro experience as Roxana "Granadanida" Mendoza (6-0), she is old enough to be her mom. Like, in any US jurisdiction - no funny business, no statutory. Miranda is 41 and Mendoza is 23...eighteen year difference.

A little over a minute in and its over. Miranda had nothing and stopped from body punches.

Miranda down multiple times and stopped with well over a minute left in the opening round.

:nusenuse: There's a reason people in the lower divisions tend not to fight into their forties...and definitely not against unbeaten twenty-somethings.

There wasn't even any one devastating shot, really...Mendoza scored the knockdowns and finished her with just repeated shoeshines on the midriff.

I guess we're getting cultural enrichment ahead of each fight now...

In this case it's two pretty ladies wearing indigenous Güipil dress and flower garlands in their hair doing a hip-wiggling dance up and down the ramp. I don't mind this.

If you're wondering why the audio keeps going out during these dance sequences - somebody in the YouTube live chat section just explained that Viva Nicaragua 13 didn't or couldn't obtain copyright permission for the songs being used, so their workaround is just muting it on the feed.

Makes for a very surreal sight, people dancing and swaying to...nothing.

Both this and the co-main to come (Alvarado vs. Márquez) are not only battles of Nicaraguan countrymen, but all four athletes come from right here in Managua. Being the much bigger stars and recognized on the global scene, however, it's a safe bet that favorites Cristofer Rosales and René Alvarado will have the crowd firmly on their side.

Román González on the other hand will get a godlike reception (especially with this perhaps being his last performance at home) and the foreigner Robles will get resounding boos. :sisi1

"El Latigo" doing a bit of switch-hitting in the first, dominating from either stance with a long jab.

The former WBC flyweight champ was sitting down on his shots more in the second round, digging especially hard downstairs.

Mendoza has only been stopped once (in 2018, by Daniel Matellón) but he doesn't seem to be offering much resistance and only has 5 stoppages in his 12 victories...so I'd like to see Rosales push the pace here. Feels like this doesn't have to drag out eight unless he lets it.
