González is getting caught with the right uppercut from outside as Robles moves counter-clockwise, but González able to catch a lot of the straighter punches on his forearms and counter with his right hand. Robles throwing a LOT. González seems a bit surprised and overwhelmed by the sheer volume from the Mexican journeyman. González is reaching for body shots, but while his arms are out of position he's getting dinged in the face. Robles just spraying leather everywhere, not very artful, but tossing what he can at the wall and hoping half of it will stick. Uppercuts and overhands from Robles, many splashing off González's shoulders or guard but a lot getting through. A concerning amount of pnuches landing flush on González's face, something we're not really used to seeing. González flurrying but getting tapped on the side of the face by Robles' palm with cuffing slap-hooks.

That crowd is dead quiet.

 

Oh yeah, this was scheduled for super fly - and BoxRec is still calling it as such, but they both missed weight (González by ¾lb and Robles by a whole pound) and I'm kind of a stickler for not saying a fight takes place in a division where neither party made the limit.

 

Goddamn. Chocolatito is eating as many as 5 or 6 hard unanswered punches, clean. It seems like his timing is off by a beat or two. You can see the wheels turning, he's thinking about countering and can probably see what to do in his mind, but...the reflexes aren't there anymore to execute in real-time.

González rallied in the second half of R4, but the physicality of Robles is causing him to lose his positioning every time he blocks or eats a hook. The force of them is keeling him over sideways. Robles is, besides younger, taller, and longer - clearly much stronger.

 

González was able to push forward most of the 5th, although it was like walking through a blizzard at times. He's making no effort anymore to pick off Robles' hooks and flurries cascading off his face, just ignoring them as he gets inside and works in combination mostly to Robles' body.

González pressuring, but Robles just loading up and wailing on him with looping rights or left hooks walking in. González's hands are only partway up, it's like he's frozen thinking out his next move when he's a pace away from the inside. Robles meanwhile isn't hesitating, taking advantage of every hesitation, constantly throwing punches. González with a couple of jabs on the face but gets earmuffed several times in doing so.

Round 7

Wild combo by Robles, an uppercut and several whiffing hooks in the air. González is jabbing at the face, but Robles is catching and shooting with counter straight rights on the body, lunging on his bent lead knee. González with a few uppercuts on the chin and Robles responds in kind, adding some overhands to González's cheekbones. González with a left uppercut and right hand combination, and Robles stands his ground smacking away from either side with wide hooks. González pumps out jabs and rights weakly, walking forward. Robles crouches, shelled up, waiting, and then explodes with a dusting of light punches all over González. Hooks on the body from González, digging in with his foot planted firmly and reaching around behind Robles' elbows.

I have to keep reminding myself about the audio thing (Viva Nicaragua Canal Trece didn't obtain any copyright permissions for music and don't want to get sued...so the dance numbers during intermission as well as whatever the DJ plays during the between-round stool breaks all get muted out). I keep worrying the feed's going wonky.
