Yeah, 115-113 either way would have been fine. Anything beyond that was too wide- and 118-113 was way too wide.

I remember the first one feeling more dramatic (all the momentum shifts, plus Jacob being something of a revelation in how much control he unexpectedly took for stretches, and then Boschiero closing strong in the championship rounds) and was definitely higher up 2013's FOTY candidate list than it feels like this was for 2014...but man, this one had lots of two-way action. Maybe even more than did the first.

The first one was also in 2014 ;)

Well that would be wide. 118-113, though, yeah, I dunno.

    That was the Croatian judge.

Interestingly, he also had Andrea Sarritzu of Italy losing wide to Valery Yanchy of Belarus (via Spain) in their draw. Another judge had Sarritzu up by 5 points. :think

Didn't the first one take place in February of 2014? :huh

This fight was maybe a bit sloppier, but it did indeed have its fair share of action, and some bitter exchanges. I still enjoyed it a lot.

    Ah, so it was. :yep

I still put it higher up this year's FOTY list, then. Cleaner work from both in that one.

Still, this go-around was fun...and it had plenty of momentum shifts (not just round to round, but even within some of the several difficult-to-score rounds) of its own.

You guys have got to look for Kogawa vs. Hisataka from last night/this morning.

The fight was good, the last two rounds were great, and the final round 8 was one of the rounds of the year.
