Four months removed from his shock upset TOK8 loss to Juli Giner, who relieved him of his European super featherweight belt, the skillful but light-hitting Frenchman has rebounded with a non-televised confidence-building TKO2 over a Georgian tomato can. Giner is scheduled to face teak-tough Mexican journeyman Miguel Roman (whom you may remember from his only career knockout loss, to Antonio DeMarco streamed live on wbcboxing.tv - a rematch of a childhood fistfight in which Mickey allegedly beat Tony up) on April Fool's Day. This will be non-title, as Miguel Roman is obviously ineligible for the European strap being of different continental provenance, but it could be a huge, dangerous misstep on the part of Giner's handlers. Roman has stoppage victories over the likes of Juan Carlos Salgado and Daniel Ponce De Leon. :think Jacob is currently ranked third by the EBU at 130lbs. Ahead of him are only Stephen Smith (the #1 contender, but about to challenge Jose Pedraza for the IBF world title) and countryman Samir Ziani - which is good news for Jacob. He's a much bigger star in France than Ziani and so could wriggle his way into a rematch with Giner around mid-year...with a very good chance of getting revenge - and his title back - if Giner has been softened up by Mickey Roman.
