Roman is 22 years old and has an impressive record of 25-0, with 21 KO's. He is currently the minimun weight WBA title holder. He is also ranked #1 in this division by Ring Magazine. To ahieve this, Roman had to battle through the top of the crop having traveled to Japan and Mexico and stopping those who seemed unstoppable. Roman is a pressure fighter. His style of fighting and personality outside the ring has already made him a star in Nicaragua. His close friendship and training with the legendary and late Alexis Arguello has taught him valuable lessons which Roman is always willing to share. What's next? Roman was to jump to the Jr. Flyweight Division. With names like Ivan Calderon, Rodel Mayol, Edgar Sosa, Ulises Sosa, and Brian Viloria, the Nicaraguan is up to the challenge. Let's go Roman! :bbb [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4q2FSLFmqM&feature=related[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJpBUlnZPtE&feature=related[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_82rTCw_suE[/ame]
Seems like a quality fighter. He'll never get the exposure in the west tho because of the weight class hes in. If he can take the step up and fight Ivan Calderon it'll be the equivalent of somebody taking on Floyd at welterweight. Wish him all the best.
Seen him fight a few times and he is quality, probably my favourite boxer at the moment, his left hook and body shots are immense
Roman himself expressed his wish to ultimately fight Ivan. That is the fight both fighters need and it needs to happen soon!
Chocolatito is an awesome puncher - in the Lebedev/Bailey/Karmazin/Tua/Abraham/Cloud/Darchinyan/Nishioka class. He needs to be as active in his WBA minimumweight reign as he was at light fly. Unfortunately, the tiny boxers need to work harder than their larger-framed counterparts to raise their profiles. Staying focused and active (and preferably televised), there is no reason Roman can't become the star of the bottom range of divisions, and carry them for years to come.
