Totally different styles, I wouldn't say he's more skilled but he may be his equal. What a match that would have been.

Bold... but with a hint of truth. Different styles, as timmers said. Finito could really pick his punches with such incredible accuracy. Gonzalez is more an output guy who gains an advantage by putting an extra few punches on the end of already good combos. Both have excellent punch selection and the full ****nal.

Attention-getting...sure to raise a few hackles...but honestly not all that ludicrous a claim if examined with a cool head.

What basis would someone have for saying that Finito was less skilled than Gonzalez though? Seems like a strange, kind of trollish thing to say without more specific details.

Well, in a slam-dunk manner, of course there's no case.

However, to say that González is his peer in boxing skill is reasonable...and from there, it becomes a game of inches, arguing either way breaking down this or that aspect of their respective game to where you could without sounding like a troll suggest that González is slightly more skilled overall. (though you could just as easily say the opposite and not suffer the branding of being rigidly anti-modern)

Lopez would beat him, though I think very highly of Gonzalez. Gonzalez throws his right hand from a bit too far away, comes up short with it, then throw the left hand right behind it.
Lopez is good enough to make him do that, then make him pay for the right hand being short.
Their skills are very comparable. Lopez, early in his career, did the same thing with his right hand. At his peak, and I think Gonzalez is at his peak now, Lopez would make him reach and land his own right hand. Left hook behind it and go on home.

Of course he is. He can perform concerted infighting. In fact he's deadly at it.

    He's far more skilled.

Different styles and preferred modes of operation in the ring

Lopez is a favorite of mine. His technical punching, patience, and one punch power was the best I saw at strawweight. Lopez is best-described as a patient puncher with a good height and reach for his weight class.

Gonzalez is bigger ( flyweight ) and throws very accurate and hard combinations. He's a swarming attacker type.

I don't think Roman is bigger than Lopez.

Yeah, Roman is smaller, pretty obviously.

Couldn't put a blade of grass between them skills wise, but it is becoming more than that in terms of resume. Gonzalez seems much more ambitious and the more I see him, the more I seem to favor him in a hypothetical fight between the two.

He has an entire facet of infighting skills that Lopez didn't have (or at least didn't show).

    Far more skilled.
