I agree. Its much harder for the smaller man to come in and lay a physical beatdown on a bigger fighter.

Your own logic collapses on itself.

If it's a bigger win for the aggressive fighter to beat the big guy than the defensive fighter, then when the big guy is the aggressive fighter - by your own definition, it's more impressive to be the defensive fighter. Unless, of course, I'm reading it wrong?

All of which is complete BS anyway. Boxing is boxing. What's impressive is outboxing your opponent.

The Duran aggression stuff gets played up ridiculously. The guy was able to move up because was an ATG boxer. Duran only won 1 world title fight above lightweight by way of stoppage. He was a beast at the higher weights because he knew how to box.

Dude I don't think you understand boxing. You have to hit people to score. The harder the better. If you hit them hard enough they go down.

    Yes. That's right.
What is even more impressive is dominating your opponent the way Roman does compared to Mayweather.

Yeah, 1 world title above lightweight. Conveniently forget wins over Palomino and arguably the GOAT win Leonard.

Duran was fat, old, basically shot, bad condition and still beat very good fighters. He was boxing with an aggressive style. It certainly isn't played up. Fighters like him and Pacquiao were MEANT to be flattened by the bigger fighters. That is boxing.

Anyway, Roman Gonzalez is ready to eclipse Floyd Mayweather's bogus record, bogus because it only is meant to mean sometthing so great at heavyweight, and also because Floyd was a PED user.

    Whats your point?
Rigo is a small 122 pounder. He barely gains any weight after the weigh in.

Yes, there is a possibility that Gonzales can effectively move up to 126 but its highly doubtful. (Tyson, Quawi do jump to my mind however)

Via boxrec top , Rigo is the shortest man competing in the 122 pound division.

    Height plays a role.

Gonzalez's frame is smaller than Rigo's.

You do have to hit people, yes, of course, but you also have to hit them more times than they can hit you.

Not always the case. A few clean, hard punches can outweigh plenty of pitty patty shots. Chavez Jr vs Vera is a good case of that.

Not if you hit so hard that they end up going down, getting knocked out or getting stunned.

You can't land one big punch each round and win it, though. Do 2 big punches outweigh 4 jabs? Yes, of course. That's obvious.

The very basis is hitting your opponent with more than he can on you - individually and cumulatively.

Nobody has said otherwise, have they?

There is no one style which is better than another. It varies on a case by case basis.

    I'll give you examples.

Tyson Fury's victory over Wlad is significantly more impressive than Rahman's over Lewis.

However, Pac's victory over De La Hoya is more impressive than Mayweather's.

Different career trajectories. Floyd had two very solid runs at different weight divisions, with cameos in a couple of other divisions. Gonzalez has had a steady ascent through each division.

Gonzalez has yet to really establish the type of dominance over any one division that Floyd did at 130lbs, so I'd rate Floyd well above Roman currently...but the table is set for Roman to surpass him depending of who he fights and defeats in the future.

I don't like how Floyd managed his career from '08 onwards while it's virtually impossible not to be high on Roman at the moment, but we can't dismiss Floyd's record which is full of quality opponents and memorable performances.

What's interesting is that Gonzalez very well may go onto have a better career than Floyd. He's almost his numerical equal which will makes headlines plus he has the chance to add plenty of icing to an already impressive cake with Estrada II and Inoue.

None of this will be easy but if Roman starts to receive well deserved, highly motivating pay checks we may just be looking at a golden legacy in 2-3 years.

I have huge respect for Gonzalaz probably in my top 5 fighters to see right now, saying that though Roman still has a way to go. Most world champions beaten and Lineal Titles ever is pretty hard to catch even in today's landscape.

I'd be excited to see a fighter in the current and next generation reach or pass that, because that would simply mean we saw greatness guys like PBF & Pacman have left huge shoes to fill. RG is the current P4P best in the sport and creating a great legacy of his on, being unbeaten isn't the end all be all its about who you beat and what you've achieved.
