One of the best fights that can be made in boxing at this moment, Gonzalez is great but Estrada keeps improving and hes not far off the level of Gonzalez and Gonzalez knows thats probably the reason why hes asking for a lot of money to fight him and although i think both guys deserve a big payday i dont think theres anyone out there willing to give them the money they in this case Gonzalez wants and this could be another potential great fight that will be filled in the " best fights that never happened archive". Hopefully i am wrong and the fight happens.

I do think part of the demolition was Segura being past his best, prime I still think he is highly competitive, but Estrada looked awesome for sure.

Estrada looked great but it has to be said that Segura didnt look like his old self usually he goes all out from the opening bell to the end but in this fight he didnt do that he was very tentative and lacked the spunk of past fights still Segura at his best or not(i believe not) props for Estrada for doing his thing and winning in impressive fashion.

Agreed, while Estrada was more dominant over Segura than was Gonzalez over Yaegashi, it must be noted that Yaegashi has a lot more left than Segura and IMO was all-around better in the first place even with both at their peaks.

Still, great W, you could see the will of Segura actually break during the fight with Estrada. He came into the ring his usual mad dog self and left a whipped cur.

Put it this way, HBO offered them 75,000 dollars each for a fight which is insulting.

So basically they offered $150,000 for the fight.

Here is combined what the undercard fights got for this weekends PPV on Showtime-

    Santa Cruz- Roman $800,000
    Bey- Vazquez- $580,000
    Angulo- De La Rosa $543,000

Now would casuals who bought the card feel less ripped off if they watched Gonzalez v Estrada rather than Bey v Vazquez, and be more inclined to buy the next PPV, or be more wanting to see both Gonzalez and Estrada again than Vazquez or Bey ever fight anyone again?

And would hardcore fans who scoff at such a shite card and not bother with it, be more tempted to part with their cash to see Gonzalez v Estrada do battle?

If Mayweather intends to give us another **** fight, with a crap undercard, they could do worse than sending some of that Showtime cash over in Gonzalez or Estrada's direction. :deal

Made this point so many times. The answers are always one of 2 things
"People don't give a **** about the little guys" (You mean the guys they don't get to see?)

"The executives know best, if they thought it was good they'd do it" (The same executives who are paying Bey and Vazquez THAT much?)

The fight should be title 'The truth'. Both are amazing fighters with lots of variety to their games.

I use to think less and less of executives and corporation leaders as ultra intelligent people that calculate everything. I think that lots of those people are so blinded by the idea for immediate profit that they lose track of the bigger picture. It was not so much the case 10 years ago in my humble opinion.

:good They could even put them on an undercard of a big name fighter. Marquez v Alvarado had Postol v Aydin as chief TV supporting act, and does surely more people care about Gonzalez v Estrada then Aydin and Postol.

I'd absolutely love to see this - it has everything. It's a rematch of a highly competitive fight, it features 2 of the top 10 boxers in the world and their styles pretty-much guarantee a fun fight to watch.

Ideally, it would be featured as the main undercard fight on a huge event. If it was on the next Floyd card, not only would it be the best fight of the night but it would introduce a lot of casual fans to these guys and hopefully they'd start to get the recognition they deserve.

Segura looked excellent last two times out. I'm not saying he is prime, but i'm saying maybe you're stretching the point a wee bit?

He didn't win a round did he?

    Did he win a minute?

He's a very hard fighter to control and Estrada controlled him completely.

Estrada has definitely got better as he was young back then but I feel Gonzalez has gotten better too. Another epic match would be had with Gonzalez winning by a few rounds. Both guys are comfortably in the P4P top 10, with Roman G arguably the best fighter on the planet until Ward comes back
