After seeing Gonzalez destroy Sosa on HBO I'm predicting great things. I'm not the biggest fan of the flyweights, but I think Gonzalez is perhaps the best flyweight I've seen in 30 years! Amazing skills, aggression and power. A pound for pound boxer and puncher, who's 43-0 with 37 KO's. If you haven't seen him, check him out. As good as Chang was, I can't him getting Gonzlaez's respect. As such I'd take a somewhat unproven superstar in the making over a legend. Yes--I think Roman Chocolatito Gonzalez is that good.
Gonzalez unproven? He's a veteran you absolute moron, and has already fought and beaten far better than Sosa.
I think Sosa's a good scalp to have, Flea.,,even if he was past his peak. Not saying it's his best win at all, but it's a nice addition to an already impressive resume. Might say it's his fifth or sixth best win...:think
Three weight world champion, ranked #2 p4p by the TBRB, ranked #3 p4p by Ring, yet he's "somewhat unproven." He's already achieved far more than a dunt of guys in the HOF.
I rate Roman, I REALLY rate Roman. But.... JKC was just more clinical and streamlined than Roman. I know you've seen Sosa and rate Roman's punch accuracy, but take some time to watch some JKC if you can. I see Roman's ability as high end HOF/lower end ATG, with JKC being high end ATG. He's one of my favourite fighters of all time, his combinations doee. But hey, Chang wasn't the most dedicated at times, and it cost him even in his prime IMO against Torres (I can't remember which fight)...but you can probably give him a little leeway given he fought once every few months in big fights, and yet his overall consistency cannot be denied. I'm definitely inclined to pick Chang.
Very fair. Sosa chokes in title fights at flyweight it seems. He was out thought by Yaegashi (of all people) and failed against the corpse of Wonjongkam. But two years ago or so he was still at the top of his game, beating Segura and Solis. And Gonzalez DISMISSED him. Amazing. EXACTLY. EXACTLY.
I hear you McGrian. That was a perfect reply to the flea man who ironically enough fancies himself as an authority on the lower weights. I see he's back pedaling already and agreeing with other points made. I re-watched Roman Gonzalez. In two or three years, he could be the best pound for pound fighter in boxing. Based on styles, I think Gonzalez defeats Chang. No one is standing toe to to with Gonzalez. Chang's flurries will be limited once he feels the incoming. Gonzalez pin point accuracy and punch selection is completed by rare power at 112 pounds. I think the Alexis Arguello trained Gonzalez is boxing newsiest star and one with cross over ability for the fans who typically do not pay much attention to boxing below the light weight division. I predict an ATG at 112-115 pounds.
You are agreeing Sosa was a good scalp to have, and Chang wasn't the most dedicated at times, and it cost him even in his prime. Gonzalez career is not over. He's young, which is why when matching him vs a legend, he is somewhat unproven. We all know what he accomplished. You just failed to understand the way I framed it.:hi:
All context that you were unaware of. Gonzalez has been at world level for half a decade and been tested a fair few times. Not that you've seen any of those fights. You are carrying out your own assassination here. It's preposterous.
He hit too hard for Chang, but Too Sharp Johnson beats both. He was on a different level than any other flyweight I've seen.
Yes, because Ursua and Torres were merely average punchers. Perhaps for your next birthday you should ask for higher standards.
