Per Brunchboxing (normally I post the link, but for some reason couldn't). Here the entire article:

As Chocolatito Returns Home To Nicaragua, Donaire Wants Him In Saudi Arabia Next

Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (51-4, 41 KOs) is set to end his 19-month layoff with a highly anticipated bout against Rober Barrera this Friday. This fight marks his return to the ring and to his homeland, taking place at the sold-out Alexis Arguello Arena in Managua, Nicaragua. It will be Chocolatito’s first home bout in nearly a decade, making the event a significant homecoming for the Nicaraguan boxing legend.

Chocolatito, regarded as one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters of his generation, has had an illustrious career spanning multiple weight divisions. Known for his relentless pressure and technical prowess, Gonzalez has claimed world titles in four weight classes: minimumweight, light flyweight, flyweight, and super flyweight. Some of his most notable victories include wins over Juan Francisco Estrada, Akira Yaegashi, and Carlos Cuadras. Despite recent setbacks, including losses to Estrada and Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, Chocolatito remains a revered figure in boxing.

One very interested observer of Chocolatito’s return will be Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire, a former four-division world champion. Brunch Boxing has confirmed that while not a done deal, a dream bout between the two future Hall of Famers is in the works for the October 12 Riyadh Season card in Saudi Arabia, which will be headlined by the undisputed light heavyweight title bout between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol.

Donaire (42-7, 28 KOs) has had an equally storied career, earning world titles in flyweight, bantamweight, super bantamweight, and featherweight divisions. Known for his devastating left hook and remarkable longevity, Donaire has delivered memorable performances against opponents like Vic Darchinyan, Fernando Montiel, and Jorge Arce. In recent years, Donaire has experienced a career resurgence, including a Fight of the Year contender against Naoya Inoue in 2019, where he pushed the Japanese phenom to the limit despite losing on points.

While Donaire played coy about the potential matchup in a recent interview with Christine, Nayka, and Crystal on Women Crushing It Wednesdays on YouTube, he has expressed significant interest in facing Gonzalez. In a discussion with Brunch Boxing on Monday, Donaire, along with his manager, trainer, and wife, Rachel, confirmed that the Gonzalez fight is the bout they want next.

A clash between Chocolatito and Donaire would be a huge addition to the October 12 Riyadh Season card, pitting two of the sport’s most accomplished and beloved fighters against each other.

As Chocolatito prepares to delight his home fans in Managua, the prospect of a showdown with Donaire in Saudi Arabia looms large, promising a historic encounter that could further cement both fighters’ legacies.

Feels weird to me that there’s only a few pounds difference between what these two weighed in their last fights - Nonito seems way bigger..

Interesting fight I suppose, and hopefully a nice payday for two bonafide legends of the sport.

My first thought is with Rung being a stylistic nightmare for Roman, Donaire should be that and more… but this ain’t the best version of either guy, and who know how serious this fight would even be if it gets made.

I’d pay to see it. Nonito looked really bad against Santiago so Choco got a good shot to win this.

Have no interest in this. I want Chocolatito to try to win a belt at 118 and then retire.

Would have been interesting 5 years ago but both fighters are way past their prime, more so Donaire. I'd rather Donaire retire from the sport with his health intact before he gets seriously hurt. Chocolatito still has a bit more in the tank and could possibly win another title but I'd like for him to retire on top once he manages to achieve that.

If they manage to reach an agreement to fight than I'll be interested enough to tune in out of curiosity but I know for certain that Donaire will most likely look the worst out of the two.

It won't matter how shot Donaire is, any version of Nonito KO's Chocolatito cold.

Prime Donaire would have surely beaten a prime Chocolatito no doubt due to styles. This version of Donaire though, especially after getting damaged by Inoue twice and getting manhandled against Santiago makes me think he wouldn't stand a chance against the current version of Gonzalez.

Still... you've got to remember the struggles Roman had moving up to Superfly, this will be a move up to Bantam at an advanced age for midgets, and Roman is a pune. Quite frankly, I think Santiago would push his **** in too. The only opponent to truly dominate him was Nakatani.

Got to commend Choclolatito's balls in taking in this fight however I think even a faded Donaire will be too big and strong for him. I would expect an outcome similar to SSR II.

Choco had some tough fights at SuperFly but they were against the best fighters (Cuadras, SSR, Gallo) and he still managed to hold his own (with the exception of SSR 2 of course). Santiago is good but not on the level of Chocolatito.

I don't think he'll have much struggle with moving up to BW as long as he's facing guys like Takuma, Takei or Nishida. Nakatani is the only one that would be too much for Choco even at this stage.

Donaire on the other hand just seems too far gone for my liking to keep going. There's really no need for him to continue fighting since he's got nothing else left to prove.
