It's easy to see the comparison. Unfortunately, Tyson stepped it up at a point that Boytsov has already crossed.
Tyson also flopped spectacularly at 23 the first time someone decided to actually fight back. Boytsov is only 21 and still growing, boxing doesnt need another bust like Tyson.
They also said Lacy was the next Tyson too. Nearly every half decent prospect is dubbed ''the next Tyson''. Doesn't Guzman have the nickname ''little Tyson'' or something? How the hell did that come around!? Anyway, back on topic. Boytsov is good and has genuine potential. Greenberg is a joke. Boytsov KO.
In an age of super-heavies Boytsov is a bit small. Despite being small, like Povetkin, he tries to maintain a variation of that European tall-man's style. In might work in a weak division, but it is a mistake to assume that the divison is going to remain weak over the long term. Over the next 10 years Boytsov may have to face real opponents who are as skillful as Wladimir Klitschko. Right now he clearly has the wrong style to face Klitschko, especially if Klitschko brings his A-game. It is high time Boytsov got some better training.
I agree he could use some more upper body movement at times. Isn't he trained by Zdunek though? That's not a small name.
That's possibly the stupidest reason to get a nickname I've ever heard. With that logic might as well call Malignaggi ''The Guidonator'' and Mayweather ''**** Features''
I don't think it's reasonable to talk down Boytsov and speak of him "stretching patience" and whatnot when he's only 21 years old. He has all kinds of time to be patient and develop before stepping up into the big leagues.
I thought it was a pretty solid theory :bart Mayweather is called pretty boy for that same reason :yep
