Hes the closest thing we have to Duran nowadays.

Him against Estrada or against Inoue are probably the best fights in boxing ATM. I ****ed just thinking about it Lol.

So I'm a racist because I noticed Gonzalez main defense is his beard? He takes a punch to deliver 3 or 4, I don't think he should of got hit as much as he did but it's apparent he doesn't respect the power of most guys in his weight division

Tapia maybe but definitely NOT Lopez. Lopez's defense was tighter and his offense was more precise. Having said that, Chocolatito has a chance to best both of them in the accomplishment dept. when it's all said and done.

Can't wait to see Roman getting close to breaking Finito's record.

His defence is actually a big part of what makes him special. So much is caught while on the front foot and he is able to read double shots which is highly observant, catching the decoy and then lowering his elbow just enough to stop the body shot. One of the few clean shots Viloria landed on him was a hook in the second which caused a shake of the head, not of the bravado kind but rather of personal disappointment.

Roman's technically brilliant but then there are quirks like the way he partially blinded Brian in round three with an extended forearm to hide the cross. His guard is used in subtle ways that the casual observer isn't going to notice. Moreover his style is designed to get you to punch with him where his superior selection and angles will ensure you come off second best.

And if he really was defence suspect I think we'd start to see a few more marks on that baby face after thrashing the opponent.

Brian Viloria: "I had prepared for a different Roman and he surprised me with his defense and his speed..."

I am willing to bet that Viloria has forgotten more about Boxing than the TS will ever know and he, the guy who actually faced Gonzalez, recognises 'defense' as one of Roman's strengths.
