I read an tidbit of an article recently saying that these two were almost signed to fight in 1973. Not long after Venice moved up because he couldnt make the weight. They were both on a card in Mexico together in non-title bouts...Anaya headlining. Does anyone know why this fell through and Venice fought Herrera instead? And how do you see this fight going down?
Clever, tough, strong, awkward, southpaw. Only seen the Herrera fight but it looked to me that he might of been a bit unlucky in a real brutal fight. He gave Herrera a good working over and Herrera looked like he'd been through the grinder. Apparently he dominated both Erbito Salavaria and Betulio Gonzales at flyweight. I'd love to see those fights.
Al got it covered pretty well. Built like a brick shithouse like Galaxy but a very savvy counterpuncher and ring general. One of the strongest looking little guys you are going to see I reckon. I scored one round for Herrera from what Ive seen on the copy I have..which is missing a couple of rounds. Its very likely Venice was robbed blind in that bout.
I don't see Anaya having the all-round skills or durability to beat Borkhorsor, though it oculd be a nice shootout before Venice takes him out. Then again, anaya was a viscious puncher, who did upset the more skilled Pinder, but i think Borkhorsor had the necessary toughness to win this comfortably.
Borkorsor would have knocked out the hard hitting but chinny Anaya, although he may well have had to survive a scare or two as Anaya could punch like a mules kick if not much else. Venice too tough and skilled for the limited Mexican overall though, don`t see this fight going past 8 rounds.
