Looking at the responses (or lack of) for this one, these are great, one time famous, world class banatam weights who may as well be extinct dinosaurs for all the modern boxing world knows... As far as I know there isn't a tremendous amount of footage of either of these men, with some of Anaya's later career efforts filmed such as his kind of sort of brave effort against a young Sean O'Grady, where as Pinder retired early and had almost all of his bouts at home in Panama...

Still, champions, both. That's something no matter how time treats you.

Great job in finding these late 60's, early 70's "little man" fights. The titles, changed hands a lot, but not because
the fighters weren't any good...many really good fighters were around, and just a nominal slippage in a given fight could determine the "winner" or "loser".

I'm not just finding them, I'm the one uploading them and making sure they don't become completely lost. (As opposed to where they are now, just mostly lost)

There was indeed a good talent pool, and better yet the top guys weren't afraid to routinely fight one another. Shocking, isn't it?

Gave to remember that Pindor actually lifted his titles from Rafael Herrera, an extremely highly regarded fighter.

Good find, Russ. I saw this one many years ago on a Spanish network and thought it was lost. Amazing how Pinder handled everything Herrera and Castillo threw at him but Anaya gets through. In their first fight it was said Pinder won the first two rounds and had Anaya bleeding from the nose and mouth until he caught something in the 3rd (don't know if it was a one-punch KO or several KDs involved), but he seemed a bit shell-shocked by this time around. Keep them coming, Russ.

    Thanks, scar!

Anaya certainly must have been at the very least a respectable puncher looking at the respective resumes of everyone involved. You can see the intent & conviction he leaps into his shots with. I believe the first punch that he lands that really rattles Pinder is a leaping type of left hybrid hooker-cut... until then he was certainly being out jabbed and out maneuvered by the larger Panamanian... The final punch that hurts Pinder, making him slowly wilt to the canvas, is a left hook that must have landed with tremendous force.

This is great stuff - thanks Russell!

I think bantamweight in the 1970s was such a special division. It's crazy how much one country (Mexico) dominated it for more than a decade and had so many outstanding champions in that time period - Olivares, Castillo, Anaya, Herrera, Martinez, Zarate, Zamora, Pintor. What a bunch of fighters!

Now, if anyone has Anaya-Taylor somewhere...

No problem what so ever Jel. Thank you for taking the time to watch it.

Great observations on your part, and it really is fantastic how they turned out how so many great little men in really a single generation of sorts. People like to boast about the quality of say, Cuban amateurs or the high level of talent coming out of parts of Russia the past few years, but what about the literal fight country that was & still is Mexico? The amount of great fighters that produce is absolutely the stuff of legend!

Anaya-Taylor is supposedly one of those wars to end all wars that boxrec broadly hints at. I see fights like that now and again and you always are simply left wondering... "Was this filmed and does a copy exist somewhere out there in the world?".

    Good stuff again Russell.

Appreciate the effort you are making.

Have a well deserved bump to drive down yet more heavyweight drivel posted today.

Do I often have that effect on the posters here? It's what I aim for... Unearthing new and interesting stuff from the past is one of my priorities, making sure the bouts are obscure and not widely previously seen is another....
