Im a Jake Matthews fan but Ben Ngyuens fight against another rated fighter should have been on the main card but I guess more will get to see him on free tv I think he can at least get a title shot in a weak division

Said it before Jake Matthews needs a proper trainer and camp. loads of ability but his head is in another place with the **** advice they gave him the last fight where he looked lethargic....On a side note this card will probably break the record of lowest buys for a PPV of any sport. this is barely a prelim card on a free fight night apart from the main event.

Romero missed weight, fight still on but this card ends up in a deeper **** show than it already was.

    Romero missed weight?

    Ffs.

If he had his cardio sorted out he'd be nigh on unbeatable.

I mean we saw what a relatively average power wrestler did to Silva in Sonnen and this is a division which has always been lacking true power wrestlers.

Hendo could have been that guy but he fell in love with his power and became more a striker than a wrestler.

Romero has the size and strength to take anyone down and keep them down. The way MMA is currently scored that's pretty much an unbeatable formula.

Yeah he could have or maybe should have lost to Jacare but he's potentially the best grappler we've ever seen.

And yeah he lost to Whitaker but had he been fit enough he would have won that fight.

That's not an excuse btw, Whitaker deserves an incredible amount of props for his run of fights, it's just my belief.

If Romero could fight hard for 25 minutes he wouldn't lose to any of the current crop of fighters.

But given his struggles making weight he'll most likely be stopped himself now.

They keep giving him acid tests like this as well. The UFC has no concept of building talent.

Hold on and wait at least until he fights someone above bum level.

Fighting for the title is not hard in the ufc heavyweight division that has no more than 5 relevant fighters. Guys like Arlovski who have been washed up and regularly ktfo for years now are still top 10 or so. It's a complete joke of a division.

That's were it's so much better than boxing though. There is very little padding of records, means guy pick up losses early on and so aren't bothered about losing their 0 later on, means the big fights happen, all the time.

I don't completely disagree but a lot of times they ruin talent this way.

I don't think it's ruined talent, it's competitive matchmaking and I'm all for it tbh.

I mean should people be in gimme fights that aren't competitive?

It definitely has. Doesn't have necessary have to be gimme fights, but match them according to their level instead of acid tests every time. There have been plenty of guys who have been cut from the UFC just because how harshly they've been matched - others have win streaks they shouldn't have because they constantly get fed bones. They aren't even consistent.

I love see the best face each other time and time again, if that means some prospects never make it I'm fine with that tbh.

I hate things like in boxing were LSC was a 3 division champ and he'd only beaten one ranked opponent. Same with Broner.
