Post 78 on page 6, and then through to the end.

You're struggling to take on board simple information, so I'm afraid you're going to need extra classes. :good

why would i want to continue posting the same things to you when you don't to take anything on board?

How could John Ruiz have been a cherry pick from the start, when Roy met with Evander beforehand? If Evander had've beaten Ruiz in their 3rd fight in 2001, Roy and Evander would have fought in 2002. But after they drew, there was no title at stake. So Roy stayed at 175 for a little longer and weighed things up.

Go to thefreelibrary.com and type in Roy Jones Jnr, then scroll down to 2003. There's 4/5 different articles.

Roy wanted a Tyson fight after Ruiz, and while it was trying to be made, Tarver was constantly baiting him at every opportunity. He'd crashed the post Ruiz press conference, and was goading Roy in tv interviews and on radio etc. When other fights at HW weren't possible, he gave in and went back down for Tarver. Tarver really got under his skin.

    ???????????

He was asking for one as soon as he moved up to lhw. Its recorded in The Dark Trade

HBO approached Jones about it in the pre fight talk before the Brannon fight and Jones shot it down (Borges was in attendance)

He would call for it after the Washington fight

He would call for it again during the build up to the Jirov fight.

Jones was offered the fight with Hopkins late 96 and he turned it down. Saying that he had beaten Hopkins already and that Hopkins needed to pick up a belt at 168

Hopkins did price himself out in 2002 but it was Jones that stopped it from happening before that.

They are both to blame for the fight falling through in 04

Jones pulled out of the fight in 06

Yet to their credit, the fight happened in 2010. And despite the fact that most people dismissed it, still is one of the most significant fights of recent years to me in terms of what actually happened in the fight.

That's fair enough, my copy of Dark Trade is still at my cousins.

Do you think he was 100% genuine?

It's obvious why Roy wouldn't have been bothered about a rematch.

After the Washington fight, Toney said he'd make 175 for Roy. Who was he kidding? There's no way he could have made 175.

I didn't hear him mention Roy after the Jirov fight.

Roy was on his way up to 175 late in 96, against McCallum, and Hopkins was happy defending his MW title. Why would Roy have been interested at that point? Hopkins hadn't done much since he'd beaten Roy, and they were two weight classes apart.

The fight was irrelevant after Roy had come back down from HW in my opinion. There was no point in it, apart from for Hopkins to gain his revenge. The 2010 fight was a joke. Hopkins was trying desperately to convince people that the fight was relevant, and Roy's fight with Green had been stopped too soon.

He needed Roy's name on his resume to satisfy his ego.

But he blew the best opportunity in 2002, by initially wanting MORE money than Roy.

    ???????????

The McCallum fight was pointless. Mike was 40 years old and 1-1 in his last 2 fights.

Of course . It was the reason why HBO tried to get Jones to take the fight.
Jones has always operated with double standards. The only reason he has been able to make any decent purses post Tarver III is because guys like Calzaghe gave him the chance that Jones refused to give so many other fighters.
Of course he could. He was 183 against Durham and got down to 168 to fight Washington
During the fight itself Lampley motioned that both Jirov and Toney had been calling for a Jones fight. Jones could of fought Toney for his cw belt instead of Tarver
