The only idiot on here is himself. A sily little Jones JR fanboy. Nothing more, nothing less. Jones a great fighter, my ass. Jones was a great athlete, with phenomenal speed, and reflexes. Once those assets deserted him, he was less than ordinary, because his basic boxing fundamentals never existed in the first place.

You, like Loudon, have no clue as to what a GREAT fighter is. None at all.

I agree that everything should have been agreed upon months before the fight. They should have been no last minute changes. So I can't agree with that. I don't condone Roy's behaviour there.

But I have to ask the question, how much did it affect Virgil? He normally had to weigh in at 175. The agreed weight here was at 177.5. pounds. Virgil was on course for weighing in on the Friday afternoon, but after negotiating, he weighed in at 10.30pm instead. But Roy obviously had too aswell. That still gave Virgil nearly 24 hours to rehydrate before the fight, just like Roy.

So are you saying then, that you don't think Virgil had rehydrated properly before the fight, and his performance was affected by it? Do you think the outcome would have been different, had Virgil weighed in Friday afternoon as originally agreed?

    general zod,

Quite right, it was the interim belt, later upgraded to the WBC belt, because Tiozzo had gone to CW. But what difference does it make? It was a new challenge at a new weight class.

Why would Roy have been bothered about fighting Hopkins instead?? Hopkins was still at 160. Roy had beaten him while injured, moved up while Hopkins had remained where he was, and then he wanted to move up. Again, who wanted a Hopkins rematch, and what weight would it have been at? Roy had got nothing to prove. What had Hopkins done since the fight in 93? There was no reason for Roy to take that fight.

That's fair enough, but Hopkins was still at 160. Roy decided to go up to 175 mid 96. Like I say, the chance to win a title at a new weight class was a better proposition than fighting a guy who he'd already beaten at 160, and who was still there. It would have been stupid to pass up the opportunity to fight McCallum, to instead fight Hopkins. He'd have gained nothing. He didn't want his old belt back that he'd vacated, and there wouldn't have been much money. If he beat him in 93 with a fractured wrist, then why would he have wanted him again just three years later? It made no sense.

You don't know **** about boxing!!! Roy Jones Jr was the P4P king. He was overwhelmingly seen as far and away the best fighter in the world for most of the 90s and the early 2000s.

    By who?
The deluded American public...the same American public who when 1 of there sports teams wins the domestic championship they are given the title 'world champions"

Think I've just hit the nail on the head..
When the 2 best American baseball teams play its the "world series"
When Roy Jones fights another yank no matter what his day job is its for the "world championship"

How could some European or south American compete??
They don't even have t.v. Yet

    Ha!

What's his name supposed to be?

You two are both entertainers though, I'll give you that.

We've got you talking about Joe Louis and Danny DeVito, and we've got him saying that Joe could move forwards faster than Roy could move backwards, therefore Joe had better footwork.

Someone ruined a perfectly good ******* when they gave you teeth you moron. Tell us again, what exactly has he done in the last 7 years since his reflexes went to ****?

14 fights, lost 7 of them and been KTFO 4 times, and only beaten shot, or C class fighters.

I could care less what Yanks thought he was in the 90's or early 2,000's. " Great " fighters don't get KTFO by the likes of Glenn Johnson.

    Dummy.
