idk how reliable it is, but that's pretty good considering he'll be fighting some of those guys at the age of 38
I think Trout will be robbed against Alvarez, and then be avoided like the plague. Lara has two draws on his record and no large fan base, meaning I have more chance of a Mayweather fight than he does. Expect Mayweather to avoid 154. Twice he's gone there, because the guys he fought weren't huge and bought mega money to the table. They were exceptions, not rules. :yep Who at 154? Justify the fight to me?
Only guys who could be on the list that would make it better, who aren't Top Rank fighters and thus impossible and not worth discussing, would be Trout, Lara, and Matthysse. Three guys, that is all. So his list includes 6 of the 9 best make-able fights in or around his division.
Basically Showtime wanted to confirm an acceptable level of competition in order to make the guarantees and these names were provided as potential opponents that Showtime was satisfied with. I think the Canelo fight is the pot of gold and it looks like that fight will go down if both win on 5/4. It has 2M buys written all over it and Floyd can fight the Alexander's and the Maidana's after if he wants to continue fighting. Sounds good to me.
good way of putting it. Kirkland could replace Angulo though. People need to realize also, this is 6 fights within 30 months also yeah I have absolutely no problem with it. I was seriously expecting him to retire by now, so if he goes out fighting these guys at this age within 30 months, then that's great
The choices Floyd makes only appear bad to some people because there isn't much to choose from. 147 is depleted. Who's out there? Alvarez (good opponent, probably Floyd's best choice but it doesn't have to happen in may.) Sergio (do we really want this? a 38 yr old draining himself to make 154...) Pac (out of the question until he leaves Arum) Guerrero (decent to good. coming off a big win at 147) Alexander (doesn't draw a crowd, fans would hate this fight) Matthysse (pretty good but needs either a win at 147 or a few more at 140 against someone like rios or garcia) Golovkin (not within reason; a bit unknown and hasn't done anything at 154) Bradley (good opponent but he's with Arum) Khan (has to work his way up, needs to beat Garcia and then get a win at 147) JMM (what would a 2nd win over Juan do for Floyd's legacy? nothing) Garcia (maybe but not now. have him fight matthysse. winner could be floyd's next opponent) Realistically there are only 2 for now: Alvarez and Guerrero.
Yes, good point Kirkland over Angulo but being that he's suing Golden Boy (and everybody around him), his career essentially seems over. Hasn't fought in ages. Molina fight was iffy as ****. Speaking of, OK, add Molina and even if I'm pro-Brit as a mofo for two seconds, we can add Khan and Brook to the list. So his list literally includes 6 of the 12 top opponents for him available. And 3 of the 6 not listed are at JMW, which Floyd will likely not be fighting more than once (Alvarez) or twice at.
Even if he were 26 years old it would still be a very good list, problem is that Floyd is held to a different standard, even though he put that double standard upon himself. Fighters that get worshiped on ESB like Leonard,Duran or Whitaker fought much less fighters than those listed in the OP,while those 3 were in their prime and nobody seems to mention that....
You're so full of ****, u cry that half these guys ain't WW yet want floyd to fight a middleweight? :rofl
crazy how many of these light welters are bigger or will be bigger than Floyd on fight night. manny pacquiao would have been out of a job if Floyd played the I'm not the largest angle
