RIP Ron Lyle. Gave Ali & Foreman, amongst others, terrific fights. True warrior, true gentleman. Amazing interviewee on the Facing Ali DVD. Just reading his book at the moment. Amazing guy, amazing life.

Made me sad to the pit of my stomach when I saw this....first Frazier now Lyle, two really great guys so sad you want these guys to last forever....a great hard uncompromising fighter with a brutal punch and seemed like an unbeleivably nice guy and thoughtful man when I years later listened to interviews with him in stark contrast to his mean mean ring persona - I like it when you learn that really they are actually really great guys aswell and Ron Lyle was one of those for me - rest inpeace Ron Lyle - got your book not so long back aswell but haven't had chance to start it yet but will make sure I do very soon - with you and Frazier up there heaven has got some great fight nights in the offing

This is so sad, and it just shows that we are all getting older. We have to cherish these moments we have. They don't last forever. Thanks for the memories, Ron.

Very sad indeed. Ron Lyle was a contender in an era when being called a contender meant more than being called a "champion" does today.

RIP to a tremendously brave, honest, value for money fighter.

One of my favorite fights of all time is Lyle Foreman, I thought Ron was gonna pull that one off. Thanks for the memories

I recall that fight like it was yesterday. In England,we saw it on World of Sport on the Saturday afternoon following the day that the fight actually occured. My mum, dad, and brother were all out,and I was watching it with a friend. We did n't know the result beforehand. The first preview featured George knocking Ron down, and I looked at my friend and said "Easy comeback win for George" Then a little later, another clip was shown. This time with Howard Cossell's nasaly voice grating out "And Lyle's all over Foreman" and BANG.....George went down ! Us two boxing fans just knew we were in for a treat, and we proceeded to watch the most TWO-sided fight that I've ever seen.

    Thanks Ron :good
