Good read here. I'd always got the impression he was a nasty piece of work but here's something to counterbalance that. he always came across as a real nice guy to me. I've seen him interviewed and he seems like a good guy.
For a guy involved in I believe two deaths you’d think he’d come across as a surly, brooding thug but he wasn’t like that at all. In fact I thought his interview on Facing Ali was one of the better ones on a very great documentary. He came across as humble, grounded and totally realistic about his position in boxing history. I remember he said something along the lines of “Am I bitter about losing to Ali? Forget about it. If there was no Ali you think you’d be here interviewing Ron Lyle?
