Close fight, but have Lyle outlasting him, better stamina and chin, although Coetzee was probably better at range, I feel Lyle takes it to him and survives a fresh Coetzee and wears him down.
I just don't find Coetzee to be near as good as his champions contend he was. He seems fragile, hands and spirit. Lyle wins on fortitude.
Very winnable fight for Lyle, but Gerrie's right hand was a lethal punch. The fight can go one of two ways: back and forth slug-fest, or a ring center shootout with both men feeling each other out with jabs and trying to time each other with big right hands. Lyle's right was a little more looping and he was a natural brawler, while Gerrie was a more upright boxer with more traditional straight shots. Gerrie was a smidgen taller with linger arms too, so I don't think Lyle would win the war of jabs. Thus I think Lyle's best chances would be to target the body and then try to time Gerrie's jab with his looping right. Gerrie needs to keep his guard up, sprinkle in some lateral movement, and select shots carefully. Considering Gerrie was stopped by men like Page and Weaver, Lyle certainly has a chance for a sudden KO win since his power was within that ball park. Likewise, Gerrie's crushing right hand could potentially fell Lyle as he went down hard against Shavers, Foreman, etc. the difference is heart, Lyle has guts and determination to win when hurt, Gerrie not so much. Gun to my head, I think a focused in shape Lyle gets the better of Gerrie more often than not.
