Ron Lyle inside 4 rounds. It would be an explosive smash up but there is no ay williams has a prayer. Williams always came to fight but he just could not ride a punch and he would have to here. To win this Lyle would have to be 30 pounds lighter, a foot shorter than ron and recovering from a long punishing losing streak.

Agree Lyle would win by ko, however Williams had
Power, could momentarilly stun Lyle. Foreman called
Williams, Lyle, and Cooney the hardest hitters he faced.
    Agree Lyle early KO.

I join d prediction of Lyle winning by stoppage (inside 10) .
D man whom gave 4man his toughest fight ever and KOd Earnesto Shavers both while past his own prime vs Liston's 2 times bich .

I like Williams. He was much faster than lyle, hit equally as hard, and could take a punch just as well as Lyle. Williams electrifying handspeed and better movement is the difference here. In Williams prime, only one man ever knocked him out...Sonny Liston.

    Williams tko 7 Lyle

    Ron Lyle before the 10th

Lyle proved he could deal with sluggers as he did with Foreman and Shavers. The key points to remember are:

    1. Williams isn't as tough as Foreman (he wouldn't be able to go to war like Foreman did with Lyle)

    2. Williams isn't as strong as Shavers (whom couldn't get Lyle out of there with his best shots)

It's a war early. The bigger Williams has success but Lyle, a warrior through and through, rallies back later and finds the very suspect chin of Williams and after a few back and forth battles, takes his heart like Ali and Liston did.

    KO10 Ron Lyle

Williams did NOT have a suspect chin. No one knocked him out in his prime but Sonny Liston

Williams actually had speed and skills. Showed he could beat/compete with best boxers of his era....Terrell and Machen.....While Lyle got easily outboxed by Young 2x and Quarry

How can you compare Young and Quarry to Cleveland Williams? Totally different fighters. Totally different fight for Ron Lyle.

He proved against Foreman and Shavers he could slug with the best and against Wiliams he's fighting a lesser puncher than both men with a questionable chin.

Ron Lyle vs. Cleveland Williams (pre-November 1964)

Floored and hurt early, Ron would come back to win a 10-Round Decision.

The 1966 and later Cleveland Williams would have been KO'd by Ron Lyle in 2.

Are you kidding lol? He was knocked down twice against "Sylvester Jones" who I've never heard of and then knocked down twice and out against Bob Satterfield - a lightheavyweight. He was knocked out 5 more times after fighting Liston. He was chinny there is no denying it.

Cleveland Williams had a good chin,,,,

But the problem was that he took punches 'flush', and with his 'muscular frame'
    he was not flexible.
