I see Frank getting touted a lot on here. How does he fare in a match up with Ron Lyle: Is outclassed, or on a similar level?

It probably turns in to a sloppy brawl with them falling in to each other a bunch, I think Bruno's stiffness wears him out and Lyle has enough to stick it through and KO him in the 6th.

Great match-up that could potentially go either way. I guess I'd pick Lyle, seeing him as slightly more durable. Neither one was great in the second half of a fight, but Bruno usually got ko'd whereas Lyle would just lose by decision.

This is simalar to Lyle /foreman with two sluggers however Bruno was also a boxer like lyle a bit slower but stronger..its almost like a foreman/lyle repeat...who wins?Well one has to remember Bruno only lost when he was tired other than the 2 Tyson fights, but lyle is not Tyson, and hits every bit as hard as Young foreman did, without the dramatics..its a weird match up ,Bruno is more talented but the styles may favor Lyle, however if Bruno could keep up with Lewis and other giant Hw's before tiring our I think he can do it here...slightly favoring Bruno 3 out of 5 here.I would also add Bruno was much bigger than 220 foreman in those years.Size combined with the same skill level aslo should be taking into account since arguably Lyle lost to stander who I had beating him.everyone forgets Lyle was also a stiff like fighter like Bruno with less size.

You're thinking of Jerry Quarry aren't you?

Lyle wins this...Bruno is massively over-rated by some on here. I think Lyle is much more of a "natural" fighter than Frank. Some tend to fall in love the obvious strengths of Frank without factoring in the just as obvious flaws.

I'm sure this was done fairly recently on here?

Ron Stander never fought Ron Lyle.
Lyle lost 3 decisions ,1 to Jerry Quarry, 2 to Jimmy Young, all were clear and decisive losses.

Frank builds up a lead but his chin and/or stamina lets him down mid-late rounds. Lyle by TKO.

This one could go either way... The most likely scenario I think would be back and forth through the first couple rounds with Bruno winning them with his heavy jab and heavier punches. Lyle continues to come on as the fight progresses while Bruno fades. Lyle eventually gets a tired Bruno hurt against the ropes and pounds Bruno out....

I can see arguments for both fighters and frankly I think its up for grabs. Neither one of these guys were elite in my book but it generally TOOK an elite fighter to beat them in most instances. Both were in great shape in their primes and both hit hard. Both were stopped but it require a good puncher or world class skill to turn the trick. I think it would be a great fight no matter who wins though.

I think if there's one fighter on here who's not overrated it's Frank Bruno.

It's hard for me to pick Bruno against good caliber opponents not because Frank was a bad fighter, but that he endeavoured to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory a little too often.
Heck, even against McCall where he won there was a moment when it looked like it was going to go south for him yet again, after building up a points lead.
Luckily for him he managed to recover but there were a few worrying moments where he looked like he was going to unravel and the thing is is that Oliver did nothing to bring it about.

So I'm gonna pick Ron. Smoother boxer, more of a natural.
