I think Mercer's stronger pedigree, jab, and ability to most likely withstand anything Lyle could throw at him would be his edges in this match up.

Mercer by knockout late. If he fails to get it, he wins comfortably on points.

I too think the big difference is Mercer's ability to withstand anything Lyle could throw at him, but it's a pretty tough call. I'd go with Mercer by ??

    Good match making btw.

Ah, the daily Lyle post. Get up, take a shower, brush your teeth, and respond to the Lyle post...it's a way of life! Yeah, Mercer has such a reputation for durability, that it''s tough to go against him here. But like Ron, he tended to come up short in big fights. Could go either way, but I guess I'll go with Mercer.

    I agree. :good

Plus, remember how badly hurt on ***** Street Lyle was, when he got stopped by Shot Ali, who had no power left.

I think the best version of Mercer (IMO, in '95 v.Holyfield) against the best version of Lyle (Ali fight ?) would be an extremely close fight.
It would probably be quite entertaining too (far better than that Lyle v Ali crap).

Both durable types. Ron would take it on workrate.

Lyle could not KO Mercer but I could see it being a close fight or a decision win for Lyle or a draw, Mercer struggled with Furgey
