I don't know how many of you are fond o' Lyle. I love the man. Great story and a good fighter...

Does anyone remember when he came back in 95 and had a few fights?

Guy was 54 years old. This was 15 years after Lyle's one round slaughter against Cooney.

The 54 year old Lyle, knocked out four guys, cold, in the span of four months and then retired for good, 4-0 in his comeback.

And people think Foreman's comeback was crazy. Lyle might not of had the longetivity of Foreman during his comeback, but 54 years old... Christ. Who else fought at that age? Jack Johnson?

Guess a punch and a chin can bring you a long ways, eh?

I guess he had a bit of fun, but his 90s comeback was just that, the only name that rings a bell was Bruce Johnson who I remember losing to Lennox in Lewis' second pro fight on the undercard of Tyson/Williams.

Ed Strickland 0-18 (18 KO defeats) when he lost to Lyle, 0-30 (all KO defeats) at the finish of his career... I know Foreman met the odd stiff or two on his comeback, but please!;)

He had no place comingback, it did nothing for anyone at a time when there was a few high profile deaths. I love Ron but no fighters should be boxing pro past 50.. Its not really setting a great example..

If he really did think he was physically able to box at hisoptimum then why didn't he throw his hat into the ring with any of the willing class heavys in 95 like Moorer and Bowe, or even Herbie Hide..?

No place for old timers in top class pro heavyweight boxing.. At least Holyfield is willing to compete for the championship still.. Gutsy *******..
