    Just ran across this interesting little tidbit. I hadn't known much about Ron Van Clief before his ill-fated attempt to beat Gracie in the UFC. Seems like he had some legitimate fights.

    Also, note the very early attempts at groundfighting. The refs and corners didn't like it much:

    the guy in red has ground game. van clief is clearly not the best representative but atleast the only guy that the gracies could afford.
