As most of you know Tommy is my favorite fighter, but Ronald was not handled great. He fought mediocre guys coming up and then all of a sudden they matched him harder and he didn't have the amatuer experience to deal with it.

is Findley from Chicago. I don't see many other articles, which makes me think the article is going to be or would be favorable to say Findley by knockout. Not saying it didn't happen. In my estimation, if Ronald goes down and has to be put on a stretcher that is never a good sign. You rarely see fighters who are winning all the time have problems like that, so obviously he is not a top fighter at the moment and might have to retire. He gave his all. That is all you can ask of him.

This is correct. I was at this fight tonight. The fight was an ugly affair with lots of holding. Findley was warned by the ref in the first round. Later in the fight, Findley went in low and grabbed Ronald while Ronald's back was against the ropes. He fell through the ropes, landed hard and somehow hurt his back or neck. He couldn't even get to his feet.

It was not a brutal knockout or any kind of punch at all that did. I am not sure why the ref ruled it a TKO. It will probably be changed to a no contest.

From the article: "Hearns had to be carried out of the ring in a stretcher after the punishing power shots he received by Findley."

The author of this article could not have been at the fight to write this. The only punches of note landed during the fight came from Hearns. The writer must have gotten a telephone report from someone in Findley's camp.

Yeah I talked to someone who was at the fights, and he said exactly what you said that Ronald Hearns went down awkwardly after some wrestling. The article which was posted here is from Chicago and I just looked up Findley on the net and he indeed was born in Chicago, so this is an article which probably wants to make it look like Finley won by knockout for some press. Did Hearns get hit at all before he was thrown to the ring? Did he look ok until that happened?

    Very strange. :think

    So why the neck brace?

Anyway, with Hearns' chin and Findley's halfway decent punching ability the "fake" story (if indeed it was fake) was a plausible enough one...

it is strange isn't it? The article is from the Chicago Boxing News Network, so now looking at that name it doesn't seem very credible. I agree, Ronald Hearns chin does not seem good at all, and I hope he retires soon enough. There is no use in continuing with his career. It must be tough being the son of a great fighter and probably frustrating.

if Tommy had a bad chin he would not have lasted into the later rounds with Leonard in the first or second fights. He wouldn't have made it out of the 1st round with Hagler and into later rounds with Roldan and others.

Sadly it looks like the only thing he got from his father was his chin.

Hearns looked fine before the fall through the ropes. Findley's offense consisted mostly of rushing in and grabbing. Hearns backed him off with a couple of shots in the first, but few punches were landed by either guy.

He's gotta get out of the game, the Lara knockout was also quite devastating.
