1.Very deep. 2.Many times, because his style was a bad matchup for anyone to handle, and because he wasnt in the public eye, as lets say Vargas, Trinidad or Mosley were, so he could be avoided without much scrutiny. 3.Yes he will. 4.Umm, not really sure.

Nobody really looks good vs Winky and not much credit is given for beating the man comparative to his ability. He's also not that exciting or supe popular so you don't get a purse commeasurable to the risk either. There's a lot of reasons not to fight him.
Wright is a classic example of a fighter who was underrated and it got picked by hardcore fans, and now he is overrated by them. Wright was/is a fine fighter who learnt his trade properly but on this forum he gets too much written about him, he is not the second comming.
Don't agree with him being over rated. He is widely considered one of the best P4Pers of his era, which is true. As for getting too much written about him, I've got no idea what you are talking about. I havent seen much written about him personally, and surely the more written about any fighter the more we will all learn...
I think Wright is/was an excellent fighter, and in the mid to late 90s I was lucky to see him live as Britain was one of the few countries that gave the man his dues. In due course his excellence was such he did break though and people began to recognize him. I just think people have gone over board with the praise. Wright has his limitations and my god he his boring to watch for the casual fan. If boxing is going to have only a limited amount of borderline mainstream fighters, they need to be more exciting than Wright IMO.
I hear you mate re: boring to the casual fan, but I am not too bothered about this. For me, at his best, he can give technical master classes. But if you are taking the broader picture in terms of fighters that will help popularise the sport then I agree with your assessment.
Excellent resume with enough key wins to satisfy any doubters. Even his losses were so close they didn't detract from his reputation. Yup, he's been ducked because his style is a tough riddle to solve. He's Hall of Fame material IMO, but it'll be a while. The only thing that holds Winky back is Winky. His single significant flaw is that he won't pull out the stops toward the end of close fights to seal the deal. Who's like him? He's got a little Jimmy Young and Marlon Starling in him. Somewhat similar defense, offense off that defense, and spoiler style designed to give fits to favored opponents.
A Brilliant learning experience, but I was just making the point it was a fairly comfortable win for Vazquez.

He's defeated Shane Mosley twice, Felix Trinidad, Ike Quartey, Brono McKart three times, Sam Soliman, JC Candelo, and Jason Papillion. However, his resume isn't quite good enough to be considered an all time great or a top 100 all time fighter in my opinion. How often has he been ducked throughout his career, and why? He was ducked quite a bit by top fighters because of his style. He is extremely hard to hit and extremely hard to look good against. Plus fighters could make more money for less risk fighting other guys and not Winky Wright. Do you think he'll ever make it into the IBHOF? Yes Who's he comparable to historically?
