Exactly my point. She entered this MMA fight as a MMA fighter, not a boxer... but she used her very well developed boxing skills to good effect, as well as her kickboxing etc.

Boxing was not the hero of the day at all, the person who used it smartly and effectively at the right moments was.

Remove the kickboxing and she would not have won.
Remove the boxing and she would not have won.
Remove the ground fighting and she would not have won.

I don't understand how this concept is so hard for people to grasp, though my background is studying multiple martial arts - ie, boxing, Karate, Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu as separate things over the years and as such consider myself to have mixed martial arts experience... but have never done a singular thing called "mixed martial arts" and to me they all seem like different sets of tools as opposed to one of them being special.

MIXED to me means basically get whatever you have and throw it into a stew and see what happens. Not "whatever you have" and then add boxing, because its somehow different.

Exactly. BUT, mmartists try to use boxing, but they can't box. They can only box only when someone can't box. That was the case with Holm Rousey.

You put a top MMA fighter in with a boxer and that MMA fighter can't use kicks and they would get ****en destroyed.

Exactly. Boxing isn't a subset of MMA.

Nahh the fight was hardly even on the ground, Holm didn't really use ground skills, she just out muscled Rousey.

I hate it how MMA apologists use the Couture vs Toney fight to prove MMA fighters are on a different level. Toney was 60+lbs overweight and roidfree. He had lost every bit of athleticism he ever had and just relied on his boxing skills which had faded a bit. Couture was still so scared he had to crawl across the ground so Toney couldn't punch him for the take down.

I heard that too. She'll learn a lot from Floyd like running backwards instead of forward:!:

So if an ATG boxer decided to (if not had already) trained in a variety of other disciplines and decided to start competing in MMA they'd suddenly cease being able to box because they have became an "MMA artist"?

    I doubt it very much.

You ignoring Vitali Klitschko? I'm sure there will be others, but that is one I could think of off the top of my head.

A impress mix of ignorance and confidence doesn't make your opinion any more valid.

You are part right, though - boxing skills were on the winning team :D
