It was Tua. In the Tua fight, he kept telling Tua to "let your hands go." Then he screamed at him for the next 11 rounds. Didn't work.

I was never a big fan of Shields, he talks way too much and gives a fighter way too many instructions. I think he knows boxing fairly well, but I dont think much of him as a trainer.

see this is why you guys are were you are today. Right were you belong. On the net. How the Hell can you take a chance when your fighter loss his ability to take a punch? Paulie was one Looping Right Hand away from having Diaz walking on ***** street. Dosent Matter if Paulie cant Punch Diaz body is breaking down from the Punishment Lucky for shields and Diaz Paulie dosent have a killer instinct and let him off the hook.If Diaz went in wild like he did in his pro debut when he was 17 Paulie wouldv had 6 Knockouts. Not to mention the same cut opens up every fight since he met nate campbell the guy cant even Heal right anymore.
Give Diaz some credit he gave us wars for years before his ****ing Highschool Prom, Just enjoy him for the moment dont expect to see him with an elite anytime soon either

Out of curiousity, is it Tyson you are talking about? Shields trained Mike for Lewis & Tyson was in woeful shape! All that about how Mike was training hard in Maui, Hawaii, was bollocks! Tyson weighed in at 234lbs, some 14lbs or so above a good fighting weight for him! Damn, Mike was in better shape for Etienne, which happened some eight months after Lewis, weighing 225lbs or so!

Its kinda hard to argue with this post because it holds some truth but to Shields defense...He has had some good moments in boxing in the past...Cant say the same for McGirt!:patsch

It wasn't great advice, but it's also the kind of quote that can be taken way out of context. I think Shields knew damn well he was on the losing side of this one about halfway through, and then he didn't want Diaz getting stopped by a guy everyone knows is feather fisted. That would have been a complete disaster.

Nothing Shields could say was going to miraculously give Diaz the power and the footspeed to make Paulie uncomfortable. I'm going to give Shields the benefit of the doubt here.
