Tyson`s trainer in the 80`s stated once that Tyason a better jab than Thomas yet forum users often point to Pinklon`s jab saying it was brilliant, who`s was better? Dundee Thomas`s former trainer stated that Tyson didn`t even have a jab!
The Thomas jab is far better but a big part of that is build and styles. Thomas built his whole game around the jab. Tyson could throw some ramrod jabs especially given his size but it wasn't versatile and was never going to be. He could jab with great power moving in at times but was more about drawing the opponents jab and getting inside it. He wasn't often in positions to exchange jabs. It was a different type of jab and it definitely worked for him in what it needed to achieve. Tyson didn't have the dimensions to dictate a fight or win rounds with it.
