This shouldn't even be that competitive, George Washington is on about the same level as David Hayes last 2 opponents. However, Wilder may not be the same due to the injuries picked up in the Arreola fight so we may just be in for a surprise. To be honest though I see a safety first approach by GW with him getting caught by something big about rd9 after a bit of a stinker of a fight.
washington is an ok defensive fighter / but when he tries to put power into shots and come forward his technique goes out the window and he looks more like a bar room brawler than a boxer. his best chance is when wilder lods up he counters with a right bang on the button which wilder does not see. but the few decent opponents that washington has fought he has not troubled in the chin dept / which means his power is only average and i expect washington to box off the vack foot / being very wary and his shots will all be arm punches and not much with any power on them.
Wilder by ko !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to venture an unpopular opinion here. Losing to Washington is probably the best thing that could happen to Wilder, and boxing. With his cherry popped, maybe Wilder will stop facing bums, and step it up. He may also have reason to take his craft more seriously and toss all the flappery in the trashcan. He has the power and dimensions to be a genuine force, but as long as he's facing little plodders and old men, he will never be. He has the potential to be an exciting, relevant fighter, but I think the "0" is holding him back.
