I just saw this exercise for the first time when watching a clip of NFL players utilizing it in the off season training and then I noticed that Monte Barrett actually incorporated it into his training as well. What can you tell me about this exercise (i.e. what is it called? Origins? What muscle groups does it work? and most importantly, what does this exercise do for you and your athletic performance?). Any info will help. Thank you. Here are some vids of the exercise:

Its a waste of money, and time.

Do Pull Ups, with rope attachments instead.

So pro athletes utilize this exercise despite it being a sham?:huh

I have heard this from a few people, but most people tell me that this is the real deal. I don't know what to think of it...

Looks like a bit of a fad to me, no idea why it would be any more efficient than punching dumbells or other silly stuff. Having said that, I'm sure you can use it for conditioning. Whatever gets the lactic acid going, right.

Its actually very good for conditioning your shoulders and arms. Im a big fan of it and do a similar exercise for delts on our cable machine at the gym.

  12. I've seen a whole heap of athletes do that, Andrei Arlovski and GSP being 2 of them. I think BJ Penn aswell.

    Bloody intense workout.

This exercise wouldn't happen to work out the rhomboids by chance would it?

I would imagine so as its a secondary of tertiary muscle/stablizer when compared to the delts.
