rory macdonald vs carlos condit

the Kid was getting crushed...the Ref...didn't know how much time..the 10 sec sound happen right when he stop it. It was a good stoppage..the kid was gettting crushed.

 

I'll give the kid his props, he took a 5 minute beating and didn't give up. Tough kid.

 

No it wasn't a good stoppage, A. they need a bell like boxing so the ref knows there is only 10 seconds left. B. Even without the bell he should know how much time is left. Bull**** stoppage, jut like the Danzig bull**** stoppage.

 

Danzing stoppage was Bull****..but the other one wasn't. Sorry son, but the kid got crushed for almost a full 5mins..what do you want? him to get hurt even more?

 

How much time is left is not the main issue. The main issue is whether or not the fighter is in danger of being badly injured or killed, regardless of the time left. I don't know about this fight, I'm not watching it. But the ref's top priority is to protect the fighters.

 

I turned away after the fight, I only caught his rather classy interview telling the crowd not to boo.

 

yea right before that he said exactly what I said. That first punch of the round hurt and after that he said he wasn't sure what happened.

 

Of course I'd agree that it needed to be stopped but it should have been stopped 2 minutes earlier. It just looks bad to stop it then. He wasn't any more injured with a few seconds left then much earlier in the fight. So if you didn't think you could stop it with 2 minutes left you have no business stopping it with 9 seconds left. Yes he was getting killed that round. I have no horse in the race, its about letting him retain his honor. Instead the referee stoppage probably chanced the result of the fight. If he stopped it with 2 minutes left, I'd have applauded and would have no issue with that decision.

 

Dude the kid had absolutely no problem with the stoppage neither did his corner. The ten second warning went off at the same time so it wasn't like he heard the warning. As for the ref not knowing the time he was pretty close watching to see if the kid was gonna die so I don't think he was paying too much attention to the clock.

 

Condit let him off the hook in the first when he stunned him

 

Good stoppage you cant just let a guy finish the fight just because theres a few secounds left when hes cleary done ala Taylor-Chavez I. Rory performed well but he had never been deep in there with a savage veteran like Carlos Condit and took a terrible beating in that 3rd round one of the most impressive GNP displays in recent years IMO. A few more shots which in 7 secounds Condit would have landed could have seriously effected Rory MacDonald's vision if it isnt already.
