An important welterweight fight has been added to UFC on FOX 8.

Rory MacDonald (14-1) will meet Jake Ellenberger (29-6) on the July 27 card in Seattle. The news was first reported by The Province and later confirmed by the UFC.

No word just yet where the fight will be placed on the card, but according to the report, it will take place on the FOX-portion of the telecast. The undercard will air on FX.

This will mark MacDonald's second-straight fight in Seattle and on FOX. He defeated B.J. Penn via unanimous decision at UFC on FOX 5 in December. "Ares" was scheduled to fight his rival Carlos Condit at UFC 158, but he pulled out of the fight due to a neck and back injury. The 23-year-old, who grew up in nearby British Columbia, Canada, has won his last four fights in a row.

Ellenberger, 28, is coming off a thrilling first-round knockout of Nate Marquardt at UFC 158 last month. That win marked his second in a row and eighth in his last nine fights.

UFC on FOX 8 will take place at Key Arena, site of UFC on FOX 5.

I can't call this fight. To me, Rory still has some question marks. I'd rather them both fight 2 other top ten guys, then face off in a #1 contender match for the winner of GSP/Hendricks.
How will Rory do with a strong wrestler?
How will Rory do off his back?
Can Rory take a big punch from a big welter?
Can Rory beat the top tier guys, or is he a guy that just looks real good beating the middle and bottom heap guys?

Rory vs Koscheck would've been better at this time

Good fight a real 50/50 fight IMO.

At the moment I'm leaning towards Rory to get the win as I feel he might be more versatile than Jake with said I wouldn't be surprised If Jake stops Rory. A good test for Rory I can imagine what type of numbers a fight with GSP would do next year at the Box Office in Canada I can easily see them eclipse what they did on 129 at the Rogers Centre.

Ellenberger is a good wrestler, for what it's worth. Mike Pyle found success taking MacDonald down. But Pyle is an excellent grappler (most underrated wrestling in the sport?). It'll be interesting to if Ellenberger shoots.

And Ellenberger may not be a huge welterweight, per se. But he punches like a ****ing heavyweight. And when he unleashes those blitzkrieg combinations -- holy hell, hide the woman and children!
