“I’m not saying that he’s not fighting with 10 ounce gloves, but when I noticed them, them s**** were skinny as s***. Mine had more cushion on the knuckles, and his had less. When he hit me in the first round, it felt different. He only hit me with a jab, but it felt like a bat hitting the top of my dome.”

There's always an excuse. Nobody ever just has power. They have to be cheating in some way.

i think it's good that he is mentioning this. this isn't the first time there has been a suspicious circumstance concerning grants custom gloves.

the first time i recall an issue between andy lee and jcc jr. lee asked for the gloves to be weighed...and roach told him to go **** himself.

the other time was in a mayweather or canelo fight..(not certain) where the opponent complained about the thumbs being hard. they chose a different set.

i think the concerns are valid and if you've actually worn gloves to fight...you will know that all gloves are not created equal. it's very easy to use different density foam which may break down quicker and make the punches feel harder. also it's known that certain gloves have the padding distributed differently.

bottom line...i think rosado's claim has merit.

I have it on good authority that GGG hides a couple pounds worth of bone underneath the wrappings.

On a serious note, Rosado full of **** to bring this up 9 months later and defame Grant once the evidence is long gone. Kind of disappointed, I had a lot of respect for Rosado. Slandering Grant with no basis just because you have a bout of pre-fight nerves is pretty lame IMO.

    It's called punching power

"his jab probably feels like a right hand" - Andre ward. That's a huge part of GGG's success is he has a jab that actually hurts you instead of guys that just flick it out.

    Exactly.

Incidentally, Stevens is something of the same mold. His recent knockouts have come because he catches people by surprise on the chin with that left that isnt quite a jab and isnt quite a hook. He finishes with comboes/hook , but its that not-quite-a-jab that starts the trouble. In his UD he didnt get that, which is why it went the distance. Stevens looks to me like an inferior version of GGG.

GGG also reminds me a bit of Cotto as well, who leads with his strong hand. Golovkin odd as it might sound doesnt even really strike me as a huge "power puncher". Power jabber seems more apt, once people get tired of eating his jab and guard too tight he is able to load up easy power shots. Easy to whing big body shots and overhands when people keep backing up with their gloves covering their face.

The guy who figures out how to neutralize that jab will be GGG first hard fight / loss. Which will probably happen sooner rather than later once he finally starts landing elite level fights against fighters with high level trainers.

Golovkin uses the same style of glove as Mayweather, don't see Floyd's opponents coming up with these complaints. Maybe we have to wait 9 months til Canelo says something?

Team Rosado also had the opportunity to use the same type of glove. If they felt there was an advantage they could've used them as well.
