I don't think Rosado's claim has merit. GGG just has phenomenal power. BUT... saying that, I think it should be mandatory for gloves to be weighed and checked by an impartial judge before each fight. It's not too much bother and would stop any controversy and any cheating.
This is he internet, you can throw any wild accusation out and somebody will believe it (as long as it fits their agenda) regardless if there is no solid evidence. I'm just surprised it was the gloves he said, I was waiting on the corny accusation of PEDs to be honest.
That's the thing tho - it was actually stipulated in the contract and done in this case - the Gloves were checked by both Rosados team and the NYSAC. Rosados just bitter I think, guess I'll still root for him, but I thought he had more class. EDIT: What Rosado is in fact implying is some conspiracy involving Grant Gloves and the NYSAC, not just Golovkins team. And just to throw it out there again, LESS FRONT PADDING = MORE BROKEN HANDS. Specially in a heavy hitter like GGG.
The goodnews is we only have to wait til next week for the NYSAC, Main Events, and the media to scrutinize Golovkin's gloves and wraps. If they find nothing and Golovkin performs to expectations this will be a strong measure against any allegations. It'd be interesting for someone to get Macklin's opinion on this.
Exactly. Rosado, if anything, might have just given ammo to HBO for them to clear any and all mysteries with Golovkin's power... they'll show the gloves, talk about them, expect them to be just right. And hyping Stevens up as a SMW (even LHW) coming down in weight only serves the purpose of proving how big a puncher Golovkin is. As for Macklin, reporters would have to ask about the gloves specifically, I guess... he used the words "every shot was hard, clubbing". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lFaJLmkuvg
All this nonsense with gloves it pointless. If you can punch you can punch, and if you can't... you can't. If it were up to me I would always instruct a fighter to take the gloves which were more densely padded over the knuckle area. WHY? To protect his hands. The only benefit to poorly padded gloves is the potential to cause superficial damage like cuts, but to me the risk outweighs the reward. If a fighter feels his hands are well protected he is going to punch with confidence... full force. I'll take that over maybe cutting a guy. At the end of the day the padding on gloves has nothing to do with how hard a guy can punch, but more with how hard he will punch. Plenty of guys get dropped and knocked out in sparring with 18oz gloves and headgear. So... if anyone reading this is a fighter... pick the gloves that protect your hands best.
