Some of it is harsh, but the way he's promoted is also bull****. He got handed a belt then gets paraded around as a world champion while fighting complete randoms like this Krasniqi guy.

I know it's not his fault as such and he seems like a nice guy but it's just the other end of the hype scale. Anyone that gets overhyped will naturally get criticism for it.

does Clev sell many tickets? seems strange he isn't on last. unless this fight was tapped earlier.

 

I don't think Cleverly himself deserves criticism. It's not his fault he's been so poorly matched in the past couple of years. Kuziemski was useless, Bellew was not deserving of a world title having had only 16 fights, Karpency was terrible, Hawk was possibly worse and then Krasniqi. It's atrocious. Bellew is the best fighter there, obviously, yet he was an inexperienced pro whose best win was McKenzie at the time.

This is a world champion, yet he's not faced a top 10 fighter. Someone like Grachev, Chilemba, Murat or Campillo would be the most proven opponent he's fought.

I quite like Cleverly but I can see why he gets stick. It might be aimed at the wrong person but that's boxing, I guess. The most disappointing this is, no matter how much he or his team say it, you know he won't face a top 10 opponent in his next fight either.

 

I haven't really felt that he's been hyped. Not on the forums, anyway. Maybe by his promoter and BN but really not to the point where it's ridiculous.

I think a lot of it is down to people not liking his promoter and Clev's father, which is pretty silly as well. It's just the way the wind flows with everyone. A few start to put some strong comments and others tag along w/ it like sheep.

 

How did Paul Butler and Joe Murray look tonight? Just back, misses the boxing and can't see nothing in the RBR's?

 

It's not Clev's faut that he has so many opponents that he has to face.

He offered Froch a million but Froch said no and he fought Yusuf Mack instead...

I'm probably guilty of giving him a bit of stick even though I quite like him in general. The constant talk of big fights then crap opponents is still annoying though.
