when ross minter suffered a knockout loss some 6 years ago or so, he came back great and had a great series of wins up to last year...there was even talk on the net of him wanting a world title shot...or at least aiming for one...

but after 2 losses - and i had no problem with him being on the contender series...he is now in the line-up for prizefighter on skysports...i thought that this would have been way below his level...and he's not favourite to win either...

not a lover of the prizefighter show - to me a boxer having more than one fight a night just belittles the sport...

is ross minter really the same level as the rest of prizefighters line-up ?

Ted Bami and Nigel Wright are probably better fighters than him and have accomplished more. Although both are natural Light-Welterweights.
So is Minter the same level as the rest of them ?, no he's below some and above others.

He's better than the rest of Lomax, Dickson, Lloyd, Hillyard and Conway.
Conway has accomplished more than him though.

I think this series is fine once it is kept to fighters of domestic level and maybe used as an unofficial eliminator for the British title. If we started seeing it at World level I'd start to get a little worried though.

right...gotcha :good...won't disagree for one moment with that...but i was under the impression that he was going to be european class if not maybe a world title challenger one day....but that was as much based on his string of good wins before say 2007...and articles on the net saying he was aiming for a world title shot....

but...i hear what you're saying and am NOT for a minute disagreeing...i just thought he was better...:good

I think Prizefighter is a "last chance saloon" event and Sky should only look to promote a couple of these a year.

Ross Minter has shown glimpses of talent but by signing up for this, he's obviously looking for a way back into the spotlight and I don't think it's a good idea.

Also his loss to Clarke was because of a cut not a KO.

Sibson was who lit my fire for boxing as a kid. His fight with Hagler was my first memory of a Brit having a stab at a world title. I followed his career after that and always had a soft spot for him. Gutted when he lost to Frank Tate for the world title.
