"The Real Deal" is doing his test cut to the featherweight division following the (very close) loss to Edson Barboza last time out.

Looks like he is going to be able to do it, and he's en route to making it sometime soon. Would be cool to see him at 145lbs, some great fights there. Well, there is at 155lbs but he'll have a good frame for feather and I know there's been a lot of speculation about it on here.

Cutting 10 pounds probably isn't helping. I hope his frame can handle it. He isn't a big guy and has a decent sheeting of muscle he could slim down.

Good way to reinvent your career but I think he beat Barboza.

Im curious to see how it plays out. Pearson was a decent fighter at 155 he could probably make some noise.

Could be very good at feather if the cut doesn't kill him! I thought he nicked it vs barboza aswell hopefully he can make a run at the title!

Mine too. I also think that Barboza should have lost to Njokuani, but that's a discussion for another thread.

When Aldo moves up to 145 then the division will be wide open for many names like Griffin, Florian, Pearson and others.

Good move for Ross. I think Barboza edged it slightly myself, but Ross gave him helluva fight.

A move to FW will help his boxing as he wont be giving up so much reach knowledge as he did at LW

Yeah, he managed to use his footwork and head movement to lan a lot, but when he's not giving up reach he'll be even more effective.

Got alot of time for pearson, thinks hes a good fighter, never gonna be a champ but definitely got the potential to mix it up at the top.

This guy is tough as nails and a competent striker. He needs a great camp (like a Jackson) and hed improve.

Barboza won that fight in the last 2-3 minutes of the 3rd round.

Best of luck to Ross, I've been a fan since TUF 9.. But fighting as a FW for a short period of time will do more hurt than help.. Soon enough the extra 10 pounds to cut will hurt his performance.. If it doesn't in his FW debut.

Look at Ken-Flo.. Looked like **** in his debut, couldn't beat the champ, so now what?? Is it really worth it to continue fighting as a FW?
