Marciano would hammer Purrity all over the ring, in a 10 rounder Marciano by UD in 15 Marciano TKO in 12

Don't be so quick to make this assumption.

Purity was a very durable fighter who was only stopped once or twice in his career, and one of those stoppages was in the 11th round against Vitali Klitschko. He had a very solid chin, and Ko'd some 28 opponents in 31 fights. He was a rather large heavyweight with much durability, power and athleticism. His only probem, was that he wasn't a particularly talented or skilled fighter, which is why I'd pick the Rock to beat him, but I wouldn't be surprised if Purity went 15 rounds with him, and even floored him once along the way.

I respect Ross Purrity, but Rocky Marciano demolishes him.

Ive watched a bit of purrity. I think he would be tailor made for marciano. Marciano TKO 6 purrity hospitalized after.

Correction: he's KO'd some 27 opponents in 31 wins. Knockout percentage out of wins alone can be deceptive; sometimes, a guy who's just a really bad boxer and can't win rounds, so he loses all the fights that go the distance, will have a lot of knockouts out of the fights he does win. That doesn't make him a monstrous puncher. On the whole, Purrity has only won half of his total fights by knockout.

Which was because of a cut, not because of going down or being too hurt to continue.

Purrity was a dangerous journeyman. He had a great chin, covered up extremely well, and had some skills and power. His main problem was Purity was always on call to take a fight. He had little offering power, and as such was often at a disadvantage in terms of perpetration.

I do think Purrity could go the distance with Rocky, but would not have enough of a sustained offense to win the fight on points.

I agree...Marciano would bounce punches off Puritty all night, but Puritty had not only the chin but usually the ring smarts to keep himself upright.

There's a chance of a stoppage very late on, perhaps by facial damage, but I think Puritty makes to the final bell only to lose a very wide points loss.

If Marciano had a weaker chin or lesser stamina, it might be a bit more interesting because he doesn't have that long-range jab that makes fighting Puritty simple (see his fights against guys like Michael Grant for that).

Purrity would lose, and it would be a very painful night for him.

Here's the facts ... at 6'3" and a solid 235 pounds with an 80" reach, a rock solid chin, very good punching power Puritty would be presenting a match up Marciano never faced, ever. We are not talking P4P but straight up and my answer is who knows ?

Marciano in 6 ? Based on what ? Neither Klitschko could do that nor could Tommy Morrison ... I highly doubt Marciano stops him that's for sure.

Would it be fair to say Puritty was a bigger version of LaStarzza with bigger range and firepower and even more durability ? Not that LaStarzza was the only one who could claim to have beaten Rocky . What about Ted Lowry ?

Actually This is a classic stylistic match for both : Puritty will be outworked as usual (*#1) as long as Marciano remains upright (*#2).

So if Ted Lowry (twice) , Roland LaStarzza (once out of twice) and Don Mogard lasted 10 with Marciano there should be no doubt that Puritty in his prime could do it as well , (regarding *#2) and if Marciano was floored by Walcott and Moore why won't Puritty be able to do it as well ? (regarding *#1) Puritty floored fighters who outworked him in more than one occasion , and this time he will enjoy a range advantage he never had and Marciano will face someone he could not overpower in no way which will be very hard to reach but whom could reach him .
