Broner, Canelo and Mares were probably the biggest "stars" in the GBP stable when you don't include Mayweather.

Who is the next GBP hype?

Canelo still has star power. Fight with Cotto would be massive

Canelo still looks good actually, I think GBP thought he would most likely lose to Mayweather. He would make a lot of money losing, and make future money from the exposure gained by the fight watched by millions.

Mares and Broner were disasters though. They did everything they could to save Broner from Maidana, they thought they had a PPV star in the making. lol

Canelo can still come again, he's still a cash cow. Now worries for GBP there.

First off, none of those three are prospects. Second, it's just one loss. Not many fighters can go through their entire career without losing at least once. Third, GBP has a deep stable of fighters.

Clearly this is a good thing since they aren't mollycoddling their fighters.

Obviously I mean "prospects" in the sense of "potential superstars". While all these guys can potentially bounce back, right or wrong their auras have diminished.

I don't disagree with the fact that one loss isn't the end. However, Broner's loss, especially the way it happened, is pretty damaging to his persona.

It's only damaging to his persona if he lets it be. A lot of people still want to see him fight, he has a good manager, and his promoter is still high on him. He'll get other opportunities. We'll see how he reacts to this. Canelo and Mares both seem undeterred.
