Just watched the replay. I really think the biggest problem is round 10. Kovalev clearly won that round imo, but none of the judges scored it that way. If they had, it would have been a draw. Seems a shame, because I just don't see Kovalev winning in a rematch. The 10th is the only round I gave him in the second half. He'll need another kd or a ko to win the next fight, and I think it's unlikely that happens again.if they fight two or three times, Kov deserves at least a draw for his work in the first fight, but at this point I see him getting shut out.
I had Kovalev winning that rd, but it wasnt a clear round. Really it was even and you can even say WArd was winning the rd till he attempted the bolo punch and got jabbed in the face, the right at the end missed. That jab won me that rd, besides that there wasn't a clear guy dominating the rd.
Yea they botched round 10 for sure but not the result in my eyes. Kovalev's best chance in the rematch is to get Ward out early. Ward is a slow starter. The problem, like you implied, is that Ward already has Kovalev's timing down and 12 quality rounds of data. I think Ward is better at adapting than Kovalev, evidence in their fight, but you never know. I want to see a rematch.
Kovalev clearly won round 10. I thought round 3 was pretty clear for Ward and that one was given to Kovalev by the judges too. Just think it was one of those fights.
Eye On The Ring fan cards are 90% Kovalev, more disagreement on rounds 5, 6, and 8. http://www.eyeonthering.com/boxing/pound-pound-sergey-kovalev-vs-andre-ward
