This fight was far more competetive than Haglar/Hearns. Haglar/Hearns was only competetive for one round, and then quickly turned into a one-sided beating. This one was very competetive for the first 8-9 rounds.
"Pacquiao against the ropes!!" Hearing Lampley and the women screaming in the crowd when he's on the ropes had me on edge.
Ya I'm not saying it's better or equivalent to that fight , I'm just saying it brings back memories from that fight :good
Yeh but round 1 Hagler vs Hearns. Was a more competitive fight in my opinion, Hearns had Hagler hurt bad. Cotto never once, really put Pacman in any danger.. He took the shots well... Which shocked me..
The knockdown in this round almost reminded me of this: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRtFcKZ8o6A"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRtFcKZ8o6A[/ame]
Here's a good article here on Team Pacquiao strategy: http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleId=523873&publicationSubCategoryId=69 Pac rope-a-dope for Cotto to forget his left jab and invite him to engage. Brave move by Pac against Cotto!
The first 5 rounds were awesome!! had it ended early on continued like that, that would have been a no-brainer FOTY. But round 4 is round of the year for me (if there is such a thing!) I was at the edge of my seat and it was only during the break it sank in and I said to myself, this is ****ing tremendous fight!! I'm a bit sad that after the 6th it sort of fizzled in terms of 2 way excitement, but I'm not complaining coz i was rooting for Pac! That left hook/uppercut that dropped Cotto was just beautiful...
Check out this thread from a few days ago. Not really worth a full bump since everybody who posted was being civil, but a fun read. I did end up picking Cotto by decision though (damnit!). http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=183631&page=2
can we say rd of the year? pac knocked cotto down but cotto came back to probably evening the round 9-9. a great fight.. it was all worth it.
