Just been watching the highlights of this tonight and just wondered what you thought about the referring in this fight?

Round 7 - Tszyu seems to catch Hatton with a legit blow to the body - stomach actually

No immediate count from ringside, the ref doesn't start counting and Hatton did look in slight pain as a result of the shot. the shot wasn't called as KD and Tszyu wasn't warned for a low blow.

Round 9 - Tszyu warned by Parris for a low blow, I slowed this down to 1/16th and noticed that the shot landed either level or just slightly above the waist band of the trunk - Tszyu warned by Parris.

Hatton comes back with a blatant low blow well below the waist band, immediate count from ringside which Parris waves off, Hatton not warned straight away.

Tszyu finally gives in at the end of the 11th and Parris and Hatton embrace at the end of the fight.

Now I'm not hating on Hatton because I supported him in every single fight he has participated in but I felt the reffing was double standard in that fight.

If you go on to other fights that Parris has been involved in:

Calzaghe-Mitchell - surely a standing count, although not custmory in a British ring would have been suffice

    Fury-McDermott I - I don't have to explain this one

    Thoughts?

I remember sitting there with my dad watching fight. I didn't like and never liked Hatton and that night really ****ing annoyed me. To be honest i thought i was only person who felt that he was blatantly doing as he pleased. But years on being on this site have made me feel i was watching the right fight. Parris is blatantly the best ref for a certain promoter and aims to do his best by not only the fighter but by the promoter. He's a disgrace

Hatton had Mickey Vann for like 20 ****ing fights and for near on all his WBU Title reign. Vann let him do exact same thing.

Calzaghe-Mitchell, I'm not sure what rules that fight was fought under but if the rules of the fight don't allow for a standing 8 then one won't be given no matter what. It not a case of it being appropriate or not.

Hatton-Zoo. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other where low blows were concerned.

Which Witter? The one with iffy workrate and a half decent punch at Euro level or the souped up ESB Hatton Haters version with Tysonesque power in either hand and a slick counterpunching style to make Archie Moore jealous?;)

The 2nd one kills Hatton obviously

Your selling the first one short though :bart

We haven't had a massive Witter V Hatton thread in along time. They usually happened once every week on here.

Yep I know, it was just to exagerate the 2nd version rather than genuinely slag him off.

    Thank ****!!

 Good times. You could tell the Witter fans to the Hatton haters easily. I'm a big Witter fan but sometimes he was being compared to mayweather with big power

Anyway i haven't seen Hatton Vs Tszyu in a while now but how Parris got the job that night i don't know it doesn't take a genius to realise where he was going to lean towards. Why couldn't Van take it? He always did Hatton fights. Parris has been way, way, way below standard in recent times in the ring and out.

Wasnt Terry O'Conner the third man in the ring for Fury vs McDermott I? Not Dave Parris, who the threadstarter is trying to sleight. HMSTempleGarden that is a new low.

Certainly is. There's plenty of other cases that could have been used against Parris :yep

Was gonna say out of all the examples he could have used, he uses an example of bad judging by Terry O'Conner as a bad piece of refereeing by Dave Parris. Although to be fair I think he meant Rogan vs Sexton I, if he never he deserves an elephants ***** up his arse.

Rogan-Sexton was pretty overblown. Sexton pulled a fast one with the gumshield but Parris just followed the rules.

If there must be a villain in that fight , its Sexton. He was pretty unsporting spitting out the gumshield and hitting Rogan after Rogan had backed off (rather naively) thinking the fight was halted for the gumshield to be replaced.

Witter would have taken out Hatton.

First ever show I went to was Hatton-Magee, Magee should have won that IMO, was too dumb though.

I believe cortez is the equivalent in america, he seems to allways give beneficial decisions and judgements on the popular/payday fighters i.e mayweather and hopkins spring to mind...

Secondly you are spot on about the vann thing, i have hattons career highlights dvd and it seems vann is his only ref  which is an absolute joke if ever you have seen one, bbboc should have noticed this.

Imagine the same ref giving decisions to a team all the time and reffing the majority of the games over the season? there would be inquiries and loads of rants on the phone ins etc.
With boxing its all swept under the carpet, only the hardcore fans realise, shocking tbf :-(
